Eldora Speedway(PINCONNING, MICHIGAN) Following a long layoff, the Iron Motorsports team jumped back into Dirt Late Model competition over the July 19-20 weekend in the final two races of the UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals tour. On Friday night at the Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, Jeep Van Wormer posted the fastest lap in his group during the qualifying session and later placed second in heat race action. After starting the $5,000 to win main event from the inside of the fourth row, Jeep quickly moved up to fifth in the running order prior to retiring on lap nine due to motor woes. The Pinconning, Michigan ace wound up a disappointing twenty-first in the final rundown of the 40-lapper at Attica.

At the Oakshade Raceway in Wauseon, Ohio on Saturday evening, the popular “Hell Tour” wrapped up with a $10,000 to win program. Jeep once again timed in faster than anyone in his group during qualifying and later scored the heat race triumph. After drawing the outside of the front row prior to the start of the 60-lap feature event, Jeep paced the stellar field for the first twenty-two circuits. He faded a bit in the final stages of the race and eventually posted a sixth place effort behind only winner Matt Miller, Jon Henry, Bobby Pierce, Jeff Babcock, and Devin Moran. Complete results from the doubleheader weekend can be viewed online at www.thehelltour.com.

“It was good to get back out and go racing last weekend at Attica and Oakshade,” stated Van Wormer this week. “Our cars performed pretty well; we just had that mechanical problem on Friday night that cost us a chance at a strong finish. Now we have a quick turnaround to get our equipment ready for this mid-week deal at Eldora. It is an honor to be invited to compete with the NASCAR trucks on Tuesday and Wednesday and it should be a lot of fun. Hopefully, we can put on an exciting show for all of those NASCAR fans in the stands and maybe convert a few to Dirt Late Model fandom!”

Next up for Jeep and his #55 team will be a special trip to the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on July 23-24 for the inaugural ‘CarCash Mudsummer Classic.’ The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) will make their debut on the dirt at the “Big E” tonight and tomorrow and the undercard is the Eldora Dirt Late Model Invitational. Jeep is one of the drivers that has been invited to compete in the pair of $2,000 to win, 25-lap shows. The ‘CarCash Mudsummer Classic’ will feature six hours of live programming on SPEED tonight and tomorrow. Learn more about this unique event by logging onto www.eldoraspeedway.com.
