Busch dominated leading 92 of the 100 lap race.

“We definitely had a dominate car,” said Busch. “It’s Indianapolis – it’s pretty awesome to be able to win here. It’s cool to win at this place just with all the history and all the automobiles that have raced on this surface before.

Even though he dominated he found himself chasing Brian Scott when the cars went racing after the last caution with five laps remaining in the race. Logano started next to Busch on the restart and came down on Busch in the first turn allowing Scott to shoot to the lead.

“The #2 (Brian Scott) comes out of nowhere and he got by us,” said Busch. “We were significantly faster than him, but just the aerodynamics of this race has made it so tough.”

Busch sized up the situation and made his move with two laps to go.

“I had to use the air that he was taking from me to my advantage on him and get him loose and then try to pass him,” said Busch.

Brian Scott finished in second which was his career best.

“I feel like he was able to get by me because I was a little too cautious on corner entry,” Scott said. “I would give anything to be able to rewind, go back and do it over again.”

Joey Logano finished in third. Logono racing for Roger Penske was hoping to win the another Indy race for his boss.

“Roger has had great success here,” said Logano. “Everytime I walk into the shop the first thing you see is all his Indy 500 Trophies line up. You say “Wow”. You want to win for him. This is his turf and you want to defend that for him. We came close. We gave it our best shot.”

Austin Dillon finished in 12th place but took the lead in the overall season point standings by 6 points over Regan Smith. Dillon took advantage of pre-race points leader Sam Hornish Jr. who had engine trouble and finished in 34th.

This was Busch’s fifth victory from the Coors Light Pole this season, breaking a single-season record for wins from the pole.

“New track record is awesome,” said Busch “Whatever records are left, let me know and I’m going to try to put my name on them.”
