11th Annual “Clyde Wood Memorial” Race goes to Jay Russell at Double X Speedway!

The Speedway Motors Warrior Region made their third trip of 2013 to the Double-X Speedway in California, MO.  Mary Kay and Felicia Wood, Clyde’s widow and granddaughter, followed tradition by presenting trophies.  Great-nieces of Clyde’s, Courtney and Emma Pettigrew sang the ‘National Anthem’ while Clyde’s son Roy Wood hosted and served as Director of Competition for the family event.

The invocation was given by Warrior pilot Curtis Boyer of New Haven, MO.

With nearly a full house of fans and an over flowing pit area the 11th Annual “Clyde Wood Memorial” event brought Jay Russell of Elwood, KS into victory lane for the first time this season.   Current Speedway Motors Warrior Region points leader Jonathan Cornell crossed second followed by Kyle Bell, Adam Jones, and Tyler Blank to make up the top five. Randy Martin, Chris Morgan, Curtis Evans, Mitchell Moore, an Josh Fisher completed the top ten.
