(Moberly, Mo) – Lucas Cattle Company ULMA drivers ran into Mother Nature’s fury twice last week as two of the three weekend events were washed out. Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Missouri was rained out Friday, and then on Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway the rains came shortly after preliminary heat races were completed.

The only ULMA-sanctioned track to complete their program was Randolph County Raceway (RCR) in Moberly, Missouri, where 15 drivers were on hand for the track’s annual late model special event. Vance Wilson claimed heat race number one over Kenny Mudd and Ashlee Lancaster while Chris Lapp dominated heat number two ahead of Walt Imhoff and Zeke Langley in determining the main event starting grid.

Wilson had been on a roll leading into the event with a 4-race win streak and once again no one had anything for the Quincy, Illinois driver in the main event as he dominated the race for his eighth win of the season and fifth in a row at RCR. Despite his winning season, Wilson, the 2010 ULMA champion, still trails last year’s champion Jason Russell in the championship battle.

Behind Wilson at the finish was Kenny Mudd with another solid performance, followed by Jon Melloway and late model rookie driver Ryan Petersheim of Harrisburg, Missouri, in his first time out this season. Zeke Langley again was a solid runner bringing his ride home fifth ahead of Steve Dieckmann, Walt Imhoff, Richard Kimberling, Bobby Penney, and Dalton Imhoff to close out the top ten.

ULMA helped raise over 400 dollars for Homes for our Troops and honored the service men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice with their lives with a balloon release just before the ULMA late model main event at RCR.

The track is taking a week off this weekend but will return to action on Saturday, August 10. Be sure to visit the track online for a complete schedule by pointing your web browser to www.randolphcountyraceway.com or call 660-833-1727 for race status and additional information.

With a stout field of 22 competitors on hand Saturday evening at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri, Mother Nature foiled the night shortly after the late model heat races were contested. Prior to wet weather arriving, Jon Binning, Andy Kennedy, and Jason Russell won their respective heat races.

The speedway’s gates will open an hour early with hot laps at 6 and racing at 6:30 PM. The make-up features will run first followed by a complete program in all four Lucas Oil Weekly Championship Series classes.

ULMA late models return to action at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri, on Saturday, August 3 in which the makeup feature race from last weekend’s rainout will be ran first with the cars that were checked in based on their heat race performances. Then, there will be an all-new program for the night’s normally scheduled races.

This weekend at Lucas Oil Speedway will be “Race to Save the Hunt” and Public Safety Appreciation Night as all Police, Fire, and Rescue Personnel are admitted free to the Speedway with ID. ULMA competitors will first complete their previously rained out program from two weeks ago with those cars already determined on the starting grid. Then, another new full complete program will be contested throughout the night. Call the track at 417-282-5984 or log onto the website at www.lucasoilspeedway.com for a complete schedule of events and race night information.

ULMA licensing is mandatory at all sanctioned tracks, no exceptions! Drivers must present their license on arrival when checking in at all tracks.
