World of Outlaws Late Model Series(PINCONNING, MICHIGAN) Jeep Van Wormer, of Pinconning, Michigan, claimed his second career World of Outlaws Late Model Series feature victory on Friday night, August 16 at the Winston Speedway in Rothbury, Michigan! Jeep timed in twelfth quickest overall during the qualifying session and later moved up to finish second in his heat race behind only prelim winner Brady Smith. After drawing the third starting spot prior to the 50-lap main event, Jeep hustled past race long leader Rick Eckert on lap fourteen to grab the point and led the remainder of the distance to score the $10,000 triumph in the ‘Winston 50.’ Following the #55 to the checkers was Josh Richards, Rick Eckert, Mike Spatola, and Tim McCreadie.

The Iron Motorsports team then rolled into the Merritt Speedway in Lake City, Michigan on Saturday evening, August 17 for another $10,000 to win World of Outlaws Late Model Series tilt. Jeep ran fifth in his stacked heat race and fourth in his B-Main, but later received a series provisional to advance into the ‘Merritt 50.’ During the course of the 50-lapper, Jeep was able to gain ten positions en route to a thirteenth place performance. “That was pretty cool to win a race of that magnitude in my home state,” exclaimed Van Wormer this week via telephone. “A lot of fans came out to support us and it was awesome to deliver a victory against a very strong field of cars. Everyone knows we haven’t been racing as much as we did in the past, but big wins like Winston sure make me want to go out and race more often. I can’t thank my family, crew, sponsors, and fans enough for all of their support. Hopefully, this victory will give us some momentum for Labor Day weekend and of course the World 100!”

Jeep and his #55 team will now take the upcoming August 23-24 weekend off from Dirt Late Model competition. Their next scheduled show is the following Friday, August 30 at the Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will invade Attica to preside over a $10,000 to win program.
