Canton, IL- September 1, 2013- The Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series completed its first-ever Land of Lincoln Triple Shot tour on Sunday evening at Spoon River Speedway in Canton, IL with the Mod Fall Nationals and Jeff Curl of Forrest, IL would make it two-straight victories with the tour and picked up another $5,000 payday by claiming the victory and also became only the second repeat winner with the tour in 2013. Curl’s winning effort once again came in his Angus Valley/Pro-Tire and Automotive/Pontiac RV/Chatsworth AG/Longhorn Smokehouse/Petersen Chevrolet-Dodge sponsored #12 Bob Pierce Race Car powered by a Friedman Race Engine.

Eric Bruce and Matt Mevert would bring the 24 car starting field to the green flag and Mevert would jump out to the race lead and would hold the top spot until lap 24 when sixth place starting and previous night’s winner Jeff Curl would take the race lead. Curl would survive four cautions and a red flag over the final 12 circuits to hold on for his second straight series victory and second straight win worth $5,000. Friday night’s winner at Farmer City Jeff Leka would finish in the second position, while position would go to Allen Weisser. Ray Bollinger and Chad Kinder would complete the top five finishers in the 40 lap event.

The remainder of the top ten finishers at Spoon River Speedway’s Mod Fall Nationals would be Mike Chasteen, Jr., Bobby Allen, Floyd Jordan, Donovan Lodge and polesitter Eric Bruce. The 40 lap, $5,000 to win event would be slowed by six caution periods and one red flag period.

In preliminary action, Eric Bruce would be the Quick Car Racing Product top qualifier among 49 entries at 14.984 seconds. Summit Racing Equipment heat one went to Eric Bruce, while Jacob Poel scored the win in Williams Precision Engine heat two. Hypercoils heat three went to Jeff Leka, with Matt Mevert winning Frankland Racing Equipment heat four. Summit Racing Equipment heat five would go to Butch Weisser, while Jeff Curl won Williams Precision Engines heat six. The Wehrs Machine B-Mains were won by Brandon Roberts and Ryan Thomas. Series provisional starting spots went to Ricky Tinch and Josh Ferguson, while Richie Biswell and Zane Oedewaldt were track provisional starters.

The Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series will be off until it concludes its 2013 campaign with series Season Championship event at Florence Speedway in Union, KY on Saturday October 26. This event will pay $5,000 to win and $250 to start.
