Eldora Speedway(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) Dennis Erb, Jr. struck out to the states of Ohio, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania from August 30-September 2 to enter four big Labor Day weekend showdowns. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned the first three events of the weekend, while the upstart National Dirt Racing League (NDRL) presided over Monday’s weekend finale. On Friday night at the Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, Dennis timed in ninth fastest in Group A during the qualifying session and later grabbed the third transfer spot through his heat race. After starting the $10,000 to win headliner from the inside of the fifth row, Dennis picked off two competitors during the 50-lapper to score a solid seventh place performance.

At the Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio on Saturday evening, a $15,000 top prize was on the line in the annual running of the ‘Pepsi 50 River Days Rumble.’ Dennis ran third in his heat race, started twelfth in the 50-lap main event, and later blasted past nine cars en route to a sterling third place effort behind only race winner Billy Moyer and runner-up Jimmy Owens. In Sunday’s 45th Annual ‘Hillbilly 100,’ which boasted a hefty $25,000 winner’s check, Dennis won his heat race at the I-77 Raceway Park in Ripley, West Virginia prior to leading the first sixty laps of the crown jewel main event. Unfortunately, the Carpentersville, Illinois native’s chances of claiming the $25,000 payday literally went up in smoke and he retired from the 100-lapper in the eighteenth position.

The #28 team then concluded their holiday weekend on Monday, September 2 at the Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex in Markleysburg, Pennsylvania. Dennis clicked off the eleventh quickest lap in NDRL time trials and later ran second in heat race action. After drawing the outside of the front row for the start of the $20,000 to win A-Main, Dennis ran second early in the race, but a flat tire late in the 75-lap affair dropped him to an eighth place finish. Following the four-race weekend, Dennis now finds himself fifth in the latest Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series point standings and fourth in the NDRL Championship hunt. Next up for the Dennis Erb Racing team will be the 43rd running of the ‘World 100.’ The event known as “The Granddaddy of Them All” will take place on September 5-7 at the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. This Thursday and Friday night at the “Big E” will feature complete shows with a full slate of multi-car time trials to split the field into even/odd groups followed by heat races, B-Mains, and twin 25-lap main events, each paying $5,000 to the winner. On Saturday, the time-honored format of six heat races, along with two B-Mains and B-Scrambles, will lead into the 100-lap ‘World 100,’ which boasts a hefty $46,000 top prize and the prestigious globe trophy.

The total posted awards for the 2013 edition of the ‘World 100’ is a record $283,910. Dennis has transferred into six ‘World 100’ feature events during his career with his best effort of tenth coming in both 2004 and 2009.
