Sheppard, Reed, Huls, Dunker and Bercerra Take Quincy Raceways Checkers

Quincy Raceways Brandon Sheppard, Justin Reed, Abe Huls, Tony Dunker and Austen Bercerra all took feature event wins at Quincy Raceways on Sunday September 8 during Titan Wheel & Manchester Tank Hall of Fame Night at the Races.

Brandon Sheppard out battled Jason Perry during the early stages of the UMP Super Late Model feature event as the two went toe to toe over the opening laps. Sheppard finally gained the advantage over Perry on lap thirteen and held onto a five car length margin to take the feature event win. Perry settled for the second spot followed by McKay Wenger in third, Denny Woodworth in fourth and Jared Schlipman in fifth. Sheppard grabbed the Fast Six Dash win with Woodworth winning the heat race.

Justin Reed led every lap of the Miller Lite UMP Modified feature event but he was challenged all the way to the checkered flag. Chris Spaulding hounded Reed for the first twenty two laps then Steven DeLonjay worked his way through the field for his tail starting spot. DeLonjay started at the rear of the field after being late to the grid for the main event and steadily worked his way to the leaders to challenge for the lead with Reed over the final three circuits. Reed keep DeLonjay at bay to the checkered flag to score his first modified feature win of the season over DeLonjay in second, Spaulding in third, Kenny Wallace in fourth and Robbie Reed in fifth. Reed scored the Fast Six Dash win as Keith Pratt and Shawn Deering were the heat race winners.

Abe Huls took the IMCA Stock Car feature event win. Huls came from his third row starting spot and got by Jerry Jansen on the ninth lap to take the lead with Terry Houston in tow. Houston tried in vain to get past Huls but had to settle for second at the checkered flag followed by Jake Powers in third, Jansen in fourth and Gabe Harrison in fifth.

Tony Dunker led every lap of the Summy Tire and Auto Center IMCA Northern SportMod main event after drawing the pole position starting spot. Jeff DeLonjay worked his way through the field to challenge Dunker but was never able to get close enough to take a shot at the top spot. DeLonjay settled for second followed by Todd Reed in third, Charles VanZandt in fourth and Brad Holtmeyer in fifth. DeLonjay and Dunker were the heat race winners.

Kimberly Abbot led the first lap of the IMCA Sport Compact main event but after that it was all Austen Bercerra as the youngster took his seventh feature event win of the year. Abbott settled for second followed by Laine VanZandt in third, Brandon Lambert in fourth and Jarett and Brodie Dunker in fifth and sixth. Jarett Dunker and Brandon Lambert were the heat race winners.

The 2013 race season is winding down at Quincy Raceways as the TnT Action Sports Harley Davidson Night at the Races is up next on Sunday September 15. The Pit Gates open at 2:30, Grandstands at 4, Hot Laps at 4:45 and Racing at 5:30pm. Adults are $10, Seniors $7, Students 11-15 $5 and Kids 10 and Under are Free as always at Quincy Raceways.
