Dirt Track World Championship - DTWCMENOMONIE, WI (October 24) – Jimmy Mars and his #28 team concluded their 2013 campaign on October 18-19 with the 33rd Annual ‘Dirt Track World Championship’ at the Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio. The $50,000 to win crown jewel extravaganza drew a strong 79 car field to the southern Ohio speedplant. On Friday night, Jimmy started his weekend by posting the ninth quickest lap in Group A during Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series qualifying and later finishing fourth in his loaded heat race.

The Menomonie, Wisconsin star then won his consolation race on Saturday to advance into the 100-lap ‘Dirt Track World Championship.’ After starting the storied race from the outside of the tenth row, Jimmy was unfortunately an early retiree in the season-ending DTWC and was relegated to a twenty-sixth place performance. Complete results from PRP can be accessed online at www.lucasdirt.com.

Mars Racing entered a total of sixty (60) events during the course of their 2013 racing season. Jimmy reached victory lane on two (2) different occasions, while also racking up fourteen (14) Top Fives and twenty-seven (27) Top Tens. He claimed a $1,500 Late Model victory at the Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin on September 12 and a $2,000 triumph in an Open Wheel Modified during the ‘Punky Manor Challenge of Champions’ weekend at the Red Cedar Speedway in Menomonie, Wisconsin on September 21.
