Quincy, Illinois (11/05/13) – Jake Griffin put a wrap on his 2013 season over the weekend with a trip to the Fairgrounds Speedway in (Nashville, Tennessee) for the 29th running of the All American 400, where he competed in the Pro Late Model division. As has been the case in several events during the 2013 season the 14-year-old Griffin changed the history books with his performance.
Jake began his weekend with a historic feat as he qualified on the pole for the 100 lap finale in his #08 Jake Griffin Racing/P.A.D.D./McPike’s Pawn Shop entry. Â Track officials would later confirm that by earning the pole at 14-years-old he was officially the youngest driver to ever start on the pole of a Pro Late Model event at the facility.
In the 100 lapper Griffin battled in the top five throughout the race, but restarts would present struggles as he would lose track position on multiple occasions. Despite the struggles he still managed to race his way to an impressive 5th place finish at the checkered flag.
“Once again I just had an awesome car,” an elated Griffin commented after the race. “My crew and my sponsors have worked really hard for me this year, and it was exciting to end the season on such a high note.”
