NDRL - National Dirt Racing League(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Ray Cook took his own #53 Optima Batteries MasterSbilt racecar to the historic East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, Alabama on February 28-March 1 for the 17th edition of the ‘Bama Bash.’ The National Dirt Racing League (NDRL) presided over the storied race, which paid a hefty $17,017 to win this year. On Friday night, Ray started his weekend by laying down the fourth fastest lap in his group during qualifying prior to grabbing the fourth and final transfer spot through his heat race behind only prelim winner Chris Madden, Scott Bloomquist, and Billy Moyer.

When the feature field rolled to green on Saturday evening, Ray started the 75-lapper from the inside of the seventh row. The Brasstown, North Carolina native pitted early for fresh rubber and eventually wound up charging back through the talented field en route to a strong sixth place effort. Ray trailed only winner Chris Madden, Jonathan Davenport, Clint Smith, Scott Bloomquist, and Don O’Neal to the checkers at EAMS. Complete results from the ‘Bama Bash’ weekend can be viewed by clicking on www.thendrl.com.

Two more NDRL battles await the driver known as the “Tarheel Tiger” this upcoming weekend (March 7-8) in the Volunteer State of Tennessee. The Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee will play host to the ‘Tennessee Tipoff Classic,’ which features two separate one-day programs. A $7,500 payday will be on the line on Friday night, while Saturday’s weekend finale boasts a $12,500 winner’s check. Ray will be piloting a brand-new MasterSbilt racecar for sponsor Tommy Pope this weekend at SMS.
