La Salle Speedway(HARRISBURG, ILLINOIS) The Riggs Motorsports team trekked to the legendary Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana on Saturday, March 22 for the 17th edition of the ‘Indiana Icebreaker,’ which was sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and paid $10,000 to the winner. Brian Shirley clicked off the eighth fastest lap in Group B during the qualifying session prior to finishing fourth in his heat race behind only prelim winner Earl Pearson, Jr., Ray Cook, and Jared Landers. After starting from the outside of the eighth row in the 50-lap main event, Brian finished the caution-free affair in the nineteenth position. The Chatham, Illinois native still finds himself tenth in the latest LOLMDS point standings following the trip to Brownstown.

Teammate Jason Riggs was also in action at the 1/4-mile fairgrounds facility on Saturday evening. Jason ran eighth in his loaded heat race prior to advancing up to fourth in his B-Main. Unfortunately, only the top three runners in each of the consolation events transferred into the ‘Indiana Icebreaker,’ which meant that Jason was one mere spot out of a coveted transfer position. Full results from Brownstown can be accessed by pointing your web browser to www.lucasdirt.com.

Weather pending, the Riggs Motorsports team will compete for the first time in the Land of Lincoln in 2014 this upcoming weekend (March 28-29). The LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Illinois will play host to a pair of special events, which will make up the 3rd Annual ‘Thaw Brawl.’ A $2,000 top prize has been established for Friday’s 35-lap feature event, while Saturday’s 75-lapper boasts a hefty $15,000 winner’s check. Each program will be sanctioned by both the American Late Model Series (ALMS) and UMP DIRTcar Series.
