Open Late Models will tackle the historic half-mile oval
 
DAVENPORT, IA (April 16, 2014) – The Davenport Speedway moves the stock car racing excitement to the half-mile track this Friday, for the Midwest Sanction Showdown.  The event is co-sanctioned by the Cornbelt Clash Late Model Series and the MARS DirtCar Series.
 
The Cornbelt Clash Late Model Series is entering its sixth season in 2014. The Corn Belt Clash Late Model Series is a super late model series in the upper Midwest. The West Union, Iowa based series enters its sixth season and has races scheduled in five states in 2014. The defending series champion is Chad Simpson of Mt. Vernon, Iowa. 
 
This will be the second visit by the Cornbelt Clash Late Model Series to the Davenport Speedway.  Last year’s race was won by Jason Feger of Bloomington, Illinois.
 
The MARS DirtCar Series is a super late model organization that competes across the Midwest. The Missouri based racing series will travel to seven states this season. The defending series champion is Tony Jackson Jr., of Lebanon, Missouri.
 
The Midwest Sanction Showdown will mark the first ever visit of the MARS DirtCar Series to the Davenport Speedway. 
 
Also racing at the Midwest Sanction Showdown will be non-sanctioned IMCA Modifieds and DTR Street Stocks.
 
The Davenport Speedway is located at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, on West Locust Street in Davenport, Iowa. Pit gates will open at 4:30pm, grandstand at 5:00pm, with hotlaps at 6:30, and racing at 7:00pm.
