Inside Line Promotions – PEVELY, Mo. (April 28, 2014) – Big Game Motorsports driver Sammy Swindell traveled from one extreme to the other last weekend, which he capped with his first World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series victory of the season.

It marked his 293rd career World of Outlaws win and his fifth straight season with a triumph. In fact, Swindell has now recorded at least one feature victory in 33 of the 37 World of Outlaws seasons.

“There’s not going to be a lot of people who have been out there for 30 years or won’t be out there that long,” he said. “I think it shows I’ve still had the same drive I’ve always had about wanting to compete and wanting to win.”

It was no easy task for the Big Game Treestands team, which opened the weekend on Friday battling mechanical issues all night at Salina Highbanks Speedway in Salina, Okla. Swindell was forced to exit his heat race and the Last Chance Showdown early, and he was unable to start the main event after electing to use a provisional.

The team fixed the problem for Saturday’s event at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55.

“It’s just part of what we have to do every week,” Swindell said. “You’ve got to keep working at it. Even though we had some issues and some things happen that we didn’t get resolved on Friday, we were able to get them resolved for Saturday.”

On Saturday, Swindell qualified third quickest in his Big Game Treestands car and he placed fifth in his heat race to lock into the dash. He then finished where he started – second – in the dash to start the main event on the outside of the front row.

“The race at Pevely could have went a bunch of different ways,” he said. “Our car was good enough that if we got in a hole we could get out.”

Swindell battled within the top five for the entire main event in what was arguably the most exciting race of the season. There were four different official leaders and a host of others in the mix throughout the 40-lap race, but Swindell used his experience to manage the tricky surface.

“There was so much difference in the race track,” he said. “I tried to run at least conservatively on the one end so I didn’t end up in the fence like a lot of guys did.”

Swindell took the top spot on Lap 22 and held on through thick traffic in the closing laps to score the victory.

“That’s nice that now we got one, but I’m still hungry for more,” he said. “I hope this is the turn that we can just keep rolling on.”

The Big Game Treestands team will compete this Friday and Saturday at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio, with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series.
