Lucas Oil Late Model Series(HARRISBURG, ILLINOIS) The Riggs Motorsports team was out in full force from May 1-3, as the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series presided over a trio of high-profile events in the states of Illinois and Kentucky. Brian Shirley kicked things off on Thursday at the mighty Macon Speedway in Macon, Illinois, as the ‘St. Louis U-Pic-A-Part 100’ boasted a hefty $12,000 top prize. Brian timed in second quickest in Group A during qualifying, won his heat race, and ran amongst the top three throughout the 100-lap feature distance. At the end of the night, the Chatham, Illinois ace was on the podium celebrating a strong runner-up performance behind only victor Bobby Pierce.

Jason Riggs joined Brian on Friday night at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois. Brian ran second in heat race action prior to winding up tenth in the final rundown of the $10,000 to win main event. Jason, on the other hand, finished fifth in his heat race, third in his B-Main, and fourteenth in the 50-lapper.

On Saturday evening, the huge tripleheader wrapped up with a stop at Paducah International Raceway in Paducah, Kentucky, as another $10,000 winner’s check was on the line. Brian, who currently sits eighth in the latest version of the LOLMDS point standings, ran second in his heat race before placing fifteenth in the 50-lap feature. Jason grabbed the fourth and final transfer spot through his heat race, but was unfortunately an early retiree in the A-Main after getting caught up in a wreck and was paid for twenty-second at the pay window. Full results from the weekend triple shot can be found by accessing www.lucasdirt.com.

With Jason Riggs opting to take the upcoming May 9-10 weekend off and the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sitting idle for Mother’s Day, Brian Shirley will carry the Riggs Motorsports torch to a pair of dirt ovals in the Land of Lincoln. On Friday, the Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois will be the track of choice, as the ‘Douglas Dodge Extravaganza’ will take place at the 1/4-mile fairgrounds bullring. A $5,000 top prize will be on the line tomorrow evening in the UMP DIRTcar Series-sanctioned show. The doubleheader weekend will then conclude for the #81 team on Saturday with a visit to Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois for a $2,000 to win American Late Model Series (ALMS) battle.
