Gateway Motorsports Park“This is a remarkable opportunity to honor linemen as first responders and support the revitalization of Gateway Motorsports Park as a community treasure.”

May 22, 2014, St. Louis and Madison, Ill. – In a first-of-its-kind event, officials for Gateway Motorsports Park proudly announced today that Ameren Corporation will serve as the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series “Drivin’ for Linemen 200” official “Brought to you by” sponsor. NASCAR returns to the St. Louis area on June 14, 2014 on the 1.25-mile NASCAR speedway with a race that will bring a heightened level of awareness to the linemen of America as first responders.

“Ameren is proud to partner with Gateway Motorsports Park for the ‘Drivin’ for Linemen 200’ to recognize our employees in Illinois and Missouri – and all utility linemen across the country – for their dedication and service every day and especially their role as first responders during storms and emergencies,” says Geralynn Lord, assistant vice president of corporate communications at Ameren. “It takes a unique set of skills and a strong allegiance to serving others to accomplish the duties linemen perform each day. Events like this are just one of the many ways we support the communities we serve. Gateway Motorsports Park is in the heart of our service territory, so it’s exciting that this unique sports venue has been revitalized to bring NASCAR back for area fans.”

Ameren Corporation, the parent company of Ameren Illinois, Ameren Missouri and Ameren Transmission, delivers electric and natural gas service to customers in both states while also developing regional transmission projects. Employing more than 8,500 personnel, Ameren powers the quality of life for 2.4 million electric customers and more than 900,000 natural gas customers across its 64,000-square-mile service territory.

This will be the first NASCAR-sanctioned event at Gateway Motorsports Park under the new ownership of St. Louis native Curtis Francois.

“We really couldn’t be happier to have Ameren as a partner in this rare opportunity to bring awareness to linemen as first responders,” says Francois. “When the folks at Ameren were introduced to this idea of honoring linemen and supporting the community by helping to bring this NASCAR race to the region for their employees and customers, they stepped right up. That kind of civic leadership is essential to preserving entertainment and sporting venues to keep the St. Louis region relevant.”

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series is an intensely competitive series that has grown in popularity. The NASCAR race at Gateway MSP will be the 7th of 22 national truck series races on the calendar for 2014. The NASCAR “lifestyle” has become a national phenomenon over the last 20 years, with at-track attendance for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series averaging 30,000 fans at each event held at nearly 20 tracks across the country. The 10-month season is one of the longest of all major sports events.

The NASCAR drivers are some of the most competitive athletes of any sport, and this series is largely popular due to the driver and team personalities that fuel much of the excitement of NASCAR.

The American Ethanol “Drivin’ for Linemen 200” NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event brought to you by Ameren will be held under the lights in prime time on Fox Sports 1 at 7:30 p.m. CT at the 1.25-mile NASCAR Speedway over the Father’s Day weekend. The track also will host the United States Auto Club (USAC) Silver Crown Series race just prior to NASCAR qualifying. This will be the first NASCAR-sanctioned event at Gateway Motorsports Park under the new ownership of St. Louis native Curtis Francois.
