show-me-100-2014WHEATLAND, MO (May 23, 2014) – Tony Jackson Jr. and Mike Marlar will make up the front row for Saturday Night’s 22nd Annual Show-Me 100 Presented by ProtectTheHarvest.com. The Show-Me 100 will be the first crown jewel event this season at the “Diamond of Dirt Tracks” Lucas Oil Speedway.

A total of 65 drivers took part in Miller Welders Time Trials on Friday Night for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and Lucas Oil Midwest Racing Association co-sanctioned event.

Jesse Stovall represented the Show-Me State well by capturing Fast Shafts Heat One. Stovall bolted from his third starting spot to pass fast qualifier Ryan Gustin as he went on for the victory in the 20-lap race. Trailing Stovall and Gustin to the finish line to earn the final transfer spot was former Show-Me winner, Terry Phillips.

The Eibach Springs Second Heat was taken by another Missouri driver, Tony Jackson Jr. The defending Lucas Oil MLRA Champion dominated his heat in a new Rocket Chassis by Frye. Garrett Alberson made his first ever Show-Me 100 by taking the runner-up spot ahead of Jason Bodenhamer, who qualified for his home-state’s richest race.

Current Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Championship Points Leader, Don O’Neal started third and quickly made his way to the front by capturing the Simpson Performance Products Heat Three win. Modified standout Rodney Sanders will make his first career start in the Show-Me as he finished second, well behind O’Neal. Will Vaught took the third and final transfer spot.

Jimmy Owens, the 3-time and defending LOLMDS Champion and attempting to win a record 4th straight Show-Me 100 took control of FK Rod Ends Heat Four after sprinting to a huge lead. Owens led every lap ahead of Billy Moyer Jr., and Shannon Babb, who rallied from his seventh starting spot to take third to transfer to the main event.

Mike Marlar took home the win in Fast Shafts Heat Five. Robert Baker continued his solid performance for the weekend in taking the second transfer spot. Three-time Show-Me 100 winner Billy Moyer rounded out the transfer cars by nabbing the third spot.

Scott Bloomquist was victorious in the Eibach Springs Heat Six as the 5-time Show-Me 100 victor held off young, Bobby Pierce for the win. Eddie Carrier, Jr. made a late-race charge from his seventh spot to pass Brian Shirley near the end to take the final transfer position.

After the heat races were complete there was a redraw for the top three finishers in each heat race to set the top 18 starters for tomorrow night’s 100-lap feature event. Drivers redrew their starting position with their respective transfers. Tony Jackson Jr. and Mike Marlar will start on the front-row of the 100-lap $30,000-to-win event Saturday Night. Don O’Neal and Jesse Stovall will make-up row two, with Scott Bloomquist and Jimmy Owens starting alongside each other in row three.

In preliminary action, Ryan Gustin set the overall Miller Welders Fast Time (Group A) amongst the 65 entrants, with a lap of 15.144 seconds. Jimmy Owens set the fastest time in Group B with a time of 15.442 seconds. Jesse Stovall, Tony Jackson Jr., Don O’Neal, Jimmy Owens, Mike Marlar, and Scott Bloomquist won their respective heat races. Don O’Neal won the HotRod Tracker Manufacturers Dash and Brian Birkhofer won the Crawford Supply Traeger Grills Race of Champions.
