“Clash at the Mag” Up Next for Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series

Lucas Oil Late Model SeriesWAYCROSS, GA (June 10, 2014) – The stars and cars of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will head to the deep south in Columbus, MS for the Annual Columbus Convention and Visitor’s Bureau “Clash at the Mag”. The series returns to Magnolia Motor Speedway on June 13-14th for this mega event that will pay $20,000 to win and $1,200 to start. Activities will get underway with an open practice session on Thursday night, June 12th from 7 to 10pm. Then, on Friday night, June 13th, there will be Miller Welders Time Trials and Heat Races for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, along with Street Stocks and the NeSmith Crate Dirt Late Models for the complete weekend. Saturday night, June 14th will include B-Mains and the Columbus Convention and Visitor’s Bureau “Clash at the Mag” 100-Lap feature event for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and the always impressive support class feature events.

The “Clash at the Mag” will also be the second event of the season for drivers to earn valuable points for the ASi Racewear Crown Jewel Cup – Presented by Dirtondirt.com. Don O’Neal of Martinsville, IN currently leads the point standings for the Crown Jewel Cup title, which will pay $10,000 to the driver that earns the most points at the nine crown jewel cup events on the series schedule in 2014. The “Clash at the Mag” will also be taped by the Lucas Oil Production Studios for broadcast on NBC Sports and MAVTV American Real Networks in 2014. Drivers will earn points at this event towards the Bad Boy Mowers TV Challenge – Presented by E3 Spark Plugs. Don O’Neal currently leads the TV Challenge point standings in the chase for the $10,000 bonus to the driver that earns the most points at the TV races in 2014. Don O’Neal will lead the LOLMDS stars into Magnolia Motor Speedway with a slim lead in the series championship point standings over two-time and reigning LOLMDS National Champion, Jimmy Owens. Scott Bloomquist has climbed up to third in the chase for the LOLMDS National Championship, followed by Earl Pearson Jr., Eddie Carrier Jr., Steve Francis, John Blankenship, Jared Landers, Dennis Erb Jr., and Jason Hughes rounds out the top ten in the series championship point standings.

Jason Hughes holds a slim lead over Jason Papich in the chase for the 2014 Dunn-Benson Rookie of the Year title. Both rookie drivers continue to improve each week, as they compete at new tracks for the first time this year on the series.
