DIRTcar Summer Nationals(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Mars Racing invaded the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on June 5-7 for the 20th edition of the ‘Dirt Late Model Dream.’ The huge three-day extravaganza at the “Big E” kicked off with a pair of Twin 25 preliminary programs. On Thursday night, Jimmy Mars moved up four spots in his heat race to finish third prior to winding up fourteenth in his $2,500 to win main event. At the 1/2-mile, high-banked speedplant on Friday evening, Jimmy ran fifth in his heat race, won his consolation event, and later placed eighteenth in his $5,000 to win, 25-lap feature event.

When Saturday rolled around at Eldora Speedway, all eyes were fixated on the hefty $100,000 top prize in the 20th Annual ‘Dirt Late Model Dream.’ Jimmy finished sixth in his stacked heat race, but was later battling for a coveted transfer spot in his B-Main. Unfortunately, the Menomonie, Wisconsin native was the recipient of an errant slider from Kyle Bronson in the waning laps, which resulted in heavy damage to his #28 mount. The wreck dropped Jimmy to a thirteenth place finish in his consolation race and took him out of contention for advancing into the 100-lap crown jewel main event. Full results from Eldora can be accessed online at www.eldoraspeedway.com.

Jimmy and his #28 team will look for better fortunes this upcoming weekend (June 13-14) at the renowned Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin. The 16th Annual ‘Masters’ weekend will take place at CLS this weekend and the grueling UMP Summer Nationals will roll into town to preside over the action. A $5,000 winner’s check will be on the line for the Super Late Models on Friday night, while Saturday’s victor will receive $10,000 for their efforts.
