American Modified SeriesUnion, KY- June 21, 2014- The Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series returned to action on Saturday evening at Florence Speedway in Union, KY and veteran racer Brandon Green of Walton, KY would take the checkered flag first and score the $1,500 victory aboard the Turner Motorsports owned Complete Car Care/G&G Express sponsored #51 Nemesis Race Car powered by a Dargie Race Engine.

The victory was worth $1,500 for Green and would be his first-ever win with the series. The victory by Green made him the 26th different driver to score a series victory in tour history in what the 47th event in the history of the series.

Kent Robinson would lead the opening lap before Brandon Green would drive around Robinson on the outside on lap 2 to take the race lead and the top side of the racing surface is where Green would do his business throughout the 30 lap event. While Green would motor away from the field a bit, Robinson and Shon Flanary would battle for the second spot and would trade the position back and forth during the final 20 laps of the contest. The only thing that slowed Green’s effort would be slower traffic that he would catch on lap 18, but a caution would fly and give Green clear track once again. Green would survive two more late cautions that would see Robinson briefly challenge him on those restarts, but in the end, Green’s ability to masterfully work the top side of the racing surface would propel him to the win. Flanary would win the battle with Robinson for the second position in the waning laps, while 12th starting Josh Rice would nip Victor Lee at the finish for the fourth position.

The remainder of the top ten at the completion of the Florence Speedway A-Main would be Joey Kramer (who came from 21st after a spin on lap 3), 17th starting Larry Pickelheimer, Jr.(who ran as high as fifth until the final restart), 13th starting Jeff Curl, 18th starting Billy Vaughn, and 19th starting Broc Burton (who also got the fifth at one point). The 30 lap, $1,500 to win event would be slowed by six caution periods.

In preliminary action, Kent Robinson would be the Quick Car Racing Product top qualifier among a field of 43 entries at 18.360 seconds. Summit Racing Equipment heat one went to Kent Robinson, while Bryan Barber scored the win in Wiles Driveshafts heat two. Hypercoils heat three went to Victor Lee, with Brandon Green winning Frankland Racing Equipment heat four. Larry Pickelheimer, Jr. and Billy Vaughn would win the Stealth Racewear B-Mains, while series provisional starting positions went to Rocky Wilson and Weasel Rhodes, with Patrick Alcorn earning a track provisional.

The next event for the Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series will be on Saturday July 12 at Western Kentucky Speedway in Nebo, KY. It will mark the series first ever to the track and the event will be 40 laps in distance and pay $5,000 to win and $250 to start.
