NDRL - National Dirt Racing League

Phoenix, Arizona (July 1, 2014) The National Dirt Racing League, the Dirt Late Model tour in the middle of its second season, is ceasing operations effectively immediately, series founder John Kennedy announced today.

“My vision for the series was to provide something that was special, unique and fresh – special events that catered to the fans, tracks and race teams,” Kennedy said. “Unfortunately, I lost sight of that vision resulting in NDRL’s 2014 schedule and plan resembling what Late Model racing has been for the last several years.”

Kennedy expressed gratitude toward fans, tracks, teams and promoters who supported NDRL, which hosted five races in 2013 before launching a full season schedule in 2014.

“Without them, none of what was accomplished would have been possible,” Kennedy said. “The NDRL put on five fantastic high-paying events and paid a lucrative points fund in 2013. So far in 2014, NDRL events had exceptional car counts boasting some of the best fields of Late Models during the 2014 racing season.

“We are extremely grateful for the support from all of the NDRL family and staff and our great sponsors as well.”

Kennedy said he wants to spend more time with family after his non-stop schedule had a significant impact on his wife and three young children.

“My focus needs to be redirected towards family first,” Kennedy said. “There will be plenty of time for racing as a family in the future.”

While NDRL’s 2014 season comes to an end, Kennedy wasn’t absolute about leaving race promotions.

“I may just decide to put together some unique and exciting events based on everything we have learned in the last few seasons!”
