Lebanon-I-44-SpeedwayLebanon, MO: Ken Schrader had many people that he looked up to when he was coming up through the ranks in the Midwest. None more than the 5 time NASCAR Whelen All American Series Champion, Larry Phillips. Schrader will return to his roots to pilot a NASCAR Whelen All American Series Late Model on Phillips’ former home track, Lebanon I-44 Speedway, on July 3rd, looking for a victory in the Sportsland Pickup Covers Salute to 75.

Schrader will be piloting the Willard Asphalt, Royal Purple, McGunegill Engine Performance, Chevrolet out of the Willard Motorsports stable. He will be in the same car that Kenny Wallace drove to a second place finish earlier in the season and that young gun Jake Griffin won at Lebanon I-44 Speedway the last time it was raced. “We are excited for Kenny to drive our car, I remember Larry Phillips driving his ASA car in the mid nineties so it will be cool for me to see him honoring LP like that,” said car owner Brennon Willard. “I grew up watching Larry race each week here and it would mean a lot for me or one of my cars to win this race honoring him. Larry was a hero and a mentor for all of us, and having his old crew chief, Chuck Meads, helping on our cars makes this race even more special.”Kevin Crider Motorsports will be preparing the car for Schrader with Kevin Crider calling the shots on Thursday night. “We have had good success with this car the last couple times out, both with Jake and Kenny Wallace,” said Kevin Crider. “We have made a couple changes to the car over the last couple weeks and hope that it will be even better than it was when Jake won in it a couple weeks ago.”
Gates will open at 5:00 on Thursday, July 3rd with racing starting at 7:30. The O’Reilly Auto Parts NASCAR Pro Late Models will be running a special 75 lap feature with a special format that will be announced later. The track will also be having an autograph session along with the traditional fireworks celebration that has been the signature of the race track since it opened in 1983.
