Tri-State Speedway   Haubstadt, IN – July 1, 2014 –  Once again it is that time of the year.  The Dirt Car UMP Late Models will be at Tri-State Speedway this Sunday evening July 6th.  It is one of over thirty opportunities that the best late model drivers in America have to participate in this year’s annual DIRT Car UMP Late Model Summernationals.

Tri-State Speedway ranks as one of the favorite tracks among those along the nine state route of events.  The big 40 lap feature will pay 5 grand to win!

Although no one driver has completely dominated the previous eighteen Tri-State Speedway Summernational events, a few drivers have been more successful.  Shannon Babb took the 2013 Tri-State race.  That was his fourth victory over the years.  Don O’Neal and Rodney Melvin are two other drivers that have been in victory lane twice at Haubstadt when the Hell Tour was in town.  The series has developed the reputation of providing the hottest competition night after night for six long, demanding weeks.  The track prep at Tri-State adds to the promise of an exciting race each year!

In addition to those who follow the UMP series regularly, there are a number of drivers who check in for the bigger pay days.  Plus AUSTIN DILLON will be in competition at Tri-State Speedway this Sunday night.  The NASCAR campaigner travels and races as much as scheduling allows.  He will be racing a late model out of the Team Dillon Racing garage.  He is expected to also do an autograph session for the benefit of the his many race fans.

Winners on the tour through the weekend of June 29th include Billy Moyer, Rick Eckert, Shannon Babb, and Brian Shirley.  Others with a win include Jason Feger, Brandon Sheppard, Brian Birkhofer, and Brady Smith.  Rain has intervened five times.

The action on the sixth will be two fold.  The UMP Open Wheel Modifieds will be competing as well.  A thousand dollars to win has been posted.  The special race is a part of the Summit Modified Nationals.  Kenny Wallace, who is well known to NASCAR fans and dirt track fans, has been following that tour and will be in the field competing at Tri-State Speedway.  Mike Harrison won the modified event last year with a field of 48 cars battling through six heats, two C Mains, and two B Mains

This will be a great event for the family to attend and wrap up an exciting Fourth of July Holiday weekend.  Racing begins at 7:30 P.M.

Opening ceremonies begin some 10 minutes earlier.  Hot laps and qualifying will begin an hour earlier!

The sprint cars will return on July 19th.  The racing that night will include the USAC Sprint Cars and UMP Open Wheel Modifieds.  It will be the finale for Indiana Sprint Week.
