Pontoon Beach, IL – July 18th, 2014 – Jim Shereck of St. Charles, MO has won a lot of Modified features and a few crate late model features during his racing career, but tonight he won his first ever Super Late Model feature event at Tri-City Speedway. Tim Manville jumped out to the lead at the drop of the green flag from his outside front row starting spot, with Shereck quickly moving into the second position from his second row starting position. Shereck would pressure Manville for the lead for the first dozen laps but was unable to complete the pass. A caution would reset the field at that point and Shereck made quick work of Manville on the restart using the high side. Shereck would pull away to a decent size lead, however lapped traffic in the final three laps allowed Manville to close up the gap. Shereck would hold off Manville on the final lap for the win. Scott Weber would finish third with Jim Moon fourth and Billy Laycock fifth.

This was the Russ Wallace Memorial and it all came together for his son Kenny Wallace to win the UMP DIRTcar Modified feature event. Wallace got to the lead at the drop of the green flag but held off several challenges enroute to the win. On a restart early in the race, Rusty Griffaw executed a perfect slide job through turns one and two to get the lead, but Wallace turned back down under him going down the backstretch and returned a good slide job in turns three and four to retake the lead. As the laps clicked off, Joey Walsh and Tommie Seets, Jr. moved into position to battle with Wallace for the lead. Wallace was using the cushion on the high side while running up front while Joey Walsh used the low side to battle him for the spot while Seets was right on Wallaces rear bumper up on the cushion. Wallace would hold them off for the win. Joey Walsh would edge Tommie Seets, Jr. for the second spot. Rick Stevenson would finish fourth and Michael Long charged from the eighteenth starting spot to round out the top five.

Kolby Vandenbergh led at twenty laps of the UMP Pro Late Model feature to get the win. Vandenbergh had an early challenge from Daniel Heck, but Heck would tangle with a lapped car and end his night. Vandenbergh would go on to victory while Bobby Regot III and Josh Jackson had a great battle for the second spot. Regot would get second with Jackson third. Andy Scoles would get fourth while Tim Hancock took fifth.

Kevin Morrow won his third UMP DIRTcar B-Mod feature event of the season at Tri-City Speedway. Morrow was challenged late in the race by John Stanton. But after a late race caution, Morrow would pull away on the restart and go on to victory. Jimmy Cummins would get the second spot from Stanton. Stanton would cross the line third, but was DQ’d in post race tech for having aluminum heads and an illegal tire on the right front (Hoosier EMOD “D” tire). That would give Chris Bolyard the third place finish. Steve Ellison would get fourth and Scott Ponder fifth.

Jacob Rexing won a caution plagued Street Stock main event. Rexing led every lap of the race that was shortened due to time limit. Tony Walker finished second with Matt Hancock third. Tyler Gerberding took fourth and Brent Weaver fifth.

Rob Shaw took home the UMP DIRTcar Sport Compact feature win. He held off a barrage of challenges from Dallas Lugge and Joe Laws before their battle turned into them getting together and Lugge being spun with Laws getting sent to the rear on the restart as well. That put Cole Queathem and Travis Bittle in position to battle Shaw for the win. Shaw would hold them off and take the win with Queathem second and Bittle third. Vincent Shehorn was fourth and Blaze Burwell fifth.
