American Modified SeriesMorgantown, KY- July 26, 2014- The Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series completed the month of July at Cedar Ridge Speedway in Morgantown, KY with the 2nd Annual Hope for Harlie Rumble and Brian Shaw of Robinson, IL would take the $1,500 payday and the win in the event behind the wheel of his Silverthorne Chevy/Bay Safety/Ted Brown’s Quality Paint and Body/AFCO/Maxima Racing Oil/Crampton Painting and Drywall/FOX Shocks/All Star Performance/Quick Car/Frankland Racing Equipment sponsored #1s Bandit Race Car, which is powered by a Mullins Race Engine.

The victory was worth $1,500 for Shaw and would be his second career series victory, last having won with the tour in 2012. Shaw’s victory also made him the seventh different winner with the tour through the first eleven events of the 2014 season.

Trent Young would take the lead at the start of the event, with Brian Shaw, Tyler Nicely, Josh Harris, and Bryce Jewell giving chase. Nicely and Harris would settle into a good battle for the third spot, while Young and Shaw distanced themselves from the field. The action was slowed on lap 9 when David McWilliams and Billy Uptegraff would tangle in turn four. The restart would see Shaw motor by Young off of turn two and take the lead on lap 10, as Harris turned up the wick on his challenge of Nicely for third. The final caution of the event flew on lap 12 for a multi-car incident in turn three involving Victor Lee, Jessie Baize, Chad Boone, Corey Kellems, Tony Garber, and Matthew Hopper. Once action resume, Shaw would maintain his spot at the point, while Harris would finally win the battle for third. With ten laps remaining, Young and Harris would mount a charge on the leader, with Young looking to the inside of Shaw for the lead on lap 24, but not able to make the pass. Shaw would pull away a bit after that and take the win, with Young finishing in the second spot, while Harris would finish in the third position. Tyler Nicely and Jimmy Payne would complete the top five at the finish.

The remainder of the top ten at the completion of the 2nd Annual Hope for Harlie Rumble A-Main would be Bryce Jewell, 18th starting and hard charger award winner Darin Obenchain, Shawn Simpson, Victor Lee, and Jessie Baize. The 30 lap, $1,500 to win event would be slowed by two caution periods.

In preliminary action, Josh Harris would be the Quick Car Racing Product top qualifier among a field of 20 entries at 15.208 seconds. Summit Racing Equipment heat one went to Brian Shaw, while Tent Young scored the win in Wiles Driveshafts heat two.
