Lucas Oil SpeedwayWheatland, MO- (July 27th, 2014)- Hot temps and hot action on the track were the themes of the night this past Saturday, July 26th as Kerry Davis, Jeremy Kelley, Kris Jackson, and David Hendrix all visited RACEceiver Victory Lane on US 97 Ozarks Food Harvest Food Drive Night at Lucas Oil Speedway.

After track officials did a little minor prep work on the 3/8th mile dirt oval during the intermission, the Carson’s Corner Napa Auto Parts Factory Stocks were the first class to hit the grid for their main event. Once again, “The Buckhorn Bullet” David Hendrix held off a bevy of challengers to score yet another feature win at Lucas Oil Speedway in 2014. Chip Shaddox put up a valiant effort charging from his sixth starting spot but came up short at the end to finish in the second spot. Camdenton’s Kenny Carroll also worked his way forward after starting in the eighth spot to finish in third. Mark Carter and Randy Gilmore rounded out the top-5 in fourth and fifth respectively.

Next up were the Tri-Lakes RV USRA B-Mods as 2-time and defending champion Kris Jackson started on the pole with 14-year old Andy Bryant to his outside. Bryant took command early to lead the majority of the 20-lap main but Jackson proved that it was still his house as Bryant changed his line late and Jackson motored by to take the win after a late race caution. Wheatland’s Mike Striegel continued his string of third place finishes. Springfield Raceway regular Ryan Gilmore made a rare appearance in Wheatland and charged from his 12th starting spot to finish in fourth. Nevada, Missouri’s Dustin Campbell started sixth and finish in fifth. J.C. Morton, also making a rare appearance in Wheatland, started 11th on the grid and was challenging for the lead after a late race caution but spun out going for the lead ultimately finishing in the 16th spot.

Jeremy Kelley topped the ALPS Food Store ULMA Late Model field as the former track champion utilized the extreme bottom groove of the race track to score the win after starting all the way back in the 12th spot. Kelley also earned an extra $100 from Keyser Manufacturing as the Keyser Hard Charger of the Race. Ethan Young debuted a former Jesse Stovall Victory Circle Chassis and led a good portion of the event but ultimately settled for second at the finish. Larry Ferris made a return visit to the speedway after taking a couple of weeks off to finish in the third position in the final rundown. Rounding out the top-5 were veterans Larry Jones and Tommy Cordray. 18th starting Harlen Kennedy was the recipient of the AR Bodies $50 product certificate as he lined up shotgun on the field.

The featured class of the evening was the Pitts Homes USRA Modifieds and it was easily the event of the night as Parkville, Missouri’s Kerry Davis beat Tim Setzer by a mere three feet at the AAA Finish Line to take the $750 win presented by ProtectTheHarvest.com. Setzer debuted a new Phoenix Chassis and utilized his favorite top groove to chase down race long leader Davis as Davis used the traction on the bottom groove. It appeared as if Setzer may eke out the win after leading several laps late in the race but the saavy veteran Davis had other ideas and stood victorious in the winner’s circle. Jeff Cutshaw rallied from his 12th starting spot to finish in third with Jason Russell and Chase Domer scored in the fourth and fifth position in the final rundown.
