CALVERT CITY, Ky. – Nick Hoffman put an end to Matt Mevert’s three-race streak of domination in high-paying Modified features at Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway Saturday night, leading from start to finish in the 35-lap main event and claiming the $4,000 first-place prize money.

Other winners on the night’s program included Randy Sellars in Late Model, Tait Davenport in Pro (Crate) Late Model and Mike Hodges in Stock Car.

Hoffman, a St. Louis-area native, who now races out of Mooresville, North Carolina,  took the lead from his outside front-row starting spot over Matt Cooper. Mevert, who started on the inside of the third row, quickly moved up to third and passed Cooper for second place on lap 4.

But he could never get within challenging distance of Hoffman, who threaded his way through lapped traffic neatly and built as much as a 1.5-second lead.

Brian Shaw was third, Bryan Barber fourth and Trent Young fifth. Forty-one cars were entered, and 30 started the main event.

Sellars won for the second week in a row and fourth time this year in the Late Model main. He battled side-by-side with Jason Riggs in the early laps but gradually pulled away. Tim Brown was third, Jarryd Holshouser fourth and Charles LaPlant fifth.

Davenport got the jump from the outside of the front row over pole starter Jeff Walston and led all the way in the Crate main event to score his fifth victory of the season. Jeff Glisson was second, followed by Walston, Ricky Waggoner and Credence Mott.

Hodges came from fifth starting spot in a five-car field, took the lead from Mike Lentz on the fifth lap and led the rest of the way for his fifth win of the year at KLMS. Kassidi Gibbs and Tya Cunningham were second and third, with Lentz fourth and Mike Watson fifth.
