Macon SpeedwayMACON, Ill. – Stock car racing gets back into high gear at Macon Speedway when the Taylorville Chamber of Commerce presents Taylorville Night at the legendary fifth-mile high banked oval Saturday.  Meanwhile, Bud Light Ladies Night presented by Y103 features the gals from Woody’s in a five-lap race. All ladies receive half-price admission, and Macon Speedway will also host racing in seven divisions, including the wildly popular Beach House Mini-Sprints. There’s fun for the whole family, because it’s also time for CEFCU Kid’s Club to meet in the pavilion.

Taylorville Night will highlight Taylorville businesses. Larry’s Service Center (710 W. Springfield Road), Amity Foods (630 W. Spresser St.), Personal Finance (917 W. Spresser St.), To the Moon Tattoos (Facebook.com/ToTheMoonTattoos) and Dunn’s Ambulance Service Inc. (106 S. Main) have partnered with Macon Speedway. With Christian County fans and drivers among the loyal fans attending Macon Speedway, it makes sense for Taylorville merchants to promote their products at the track.

As we search for the fastest women in town, the five ladies from Woody’s will race in one of the fastest growing promotions of the summer season. The top two finishers will advance to the Bud Light Ladies Night championship race on Sept. 13. Lillian Barry, Gretchen Schishuhn, Shyler Burton, Brianna Livingston and Laurel Phipps will compete in four-cylinder hornets. They hope to join Jenny Cramer and Dana Damery from Rocco’s plus Dawn Reynolds and Holly Vinson from Starship Billiards. These gals have no fear, and (hey guys) they are the best looking drivers in the Macon Speedway pits.

Billingsley Towing Modifieds, Street Stocks, Sportsman, Beach House Mini-Sprints, Outlaw Hornets, Stock Hornets and B-Mods will also race. Gates open at 5 p.m. with hot laps at 6 and racing at 7.

It’s time for the CEFCU Kid’s Club to check out Macon Speedway from the other side of the fence. During intermission, CEFCU Kid’s Club invites kids to hop on the school bus and take a lap or two around Macon Speedway. Kids know it’s about time to get on the yellow bus and ride to school. Let’s make it a fun night by getting on the bus and riding around the most famous dirt track in Illinois.

Get ready for wall-to-wall racing on Aug. 15-17, thanks to Macon Speedway and Track Enterprises, as open-wheel stars and stock cars heavyweights descend on the area for an incredible racing weekend. The POWRi midgets begin the action by racing at Lincoln (Ill.) Speedway, then some of those same drivers head to the Springfield Mile on Aug. 16 for the Tony Bettenhausen 100 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds for a Saturday afternoon show. Those open wheel stars aren’t done yet, because POWRi heads to Macon Speedway for a program highlighted by double features in POWRi midgets and micros. On Aug. 17, the Central Illinois SuperChevyStores.com 100 brings ARCA stock cars to the Illinois State Fair. It’s the first appearance by the ARCA cars on a dirt track this season, after this series already made stops at Daytona, Talladega and Pocono.  For tickets, call 217-764-3200.

Macon Speedway is located nine miles south of Decatur on U.S. 51, then 0.6 miles west on Andrews Street, then south to 205 N. Wiles. Macon Speedway hosts racing every Saturday night, plus many weeknight specials.
