Cedar Lake Speedway(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Jimmy Mars and his Mars Racing team are fresh off an impressive week in their home state of Wisconsin from July 29-August 2, as they racked up three victories and two additional podium finishes! Their week kicked off last Tuesday night at Shawano Speedway in Shawano, Wisconsin, as the World of Outlaws Late Model Series presided over a $10,000 to win showdown. Jimmy timed in third quickest in Group B during qualifying and later scored the win in his heat race. After drawing the seventh starting spot before the drop of the green flag in the 50-lap headliner, Jimmy moved past four competitors en route to a strong third place effort behind only victor Darrell Lanigan and runner-up Rick Eckert.

The dirt-slinging action quickly shifted to the renowned Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin over the weekend for the 27th edition of the ‘USA Nationals.’ On Thursday evening, Jimmy took the win in his heat race and later redrew the pole position for the start of the 40-lap feature. The Menomonie, Wisconsin star then led the talented World of Outlaws Late Model Series field from green to checkers in the caution-free affair to record the $6,000 top prize. Finishing behind his MB Customs mount was Darrell Lanigan, Jimmy Owens, Rick Eckert, and Don O’Neal!

Jimmy’s other two wins came in NASCAR Late Model competition on Friday and Saturday at the 3/8-mile Badger State facility. On Friday, he won his heat race and was out in front of the field on lap 33 when rain showers halted the completion of the 40-lap main event. Jimmy claimed the $2,500 winner’s check ahead of A.J. Diemel, Tim Isenberg, Brent Larson, and Chad Mahder. On Saturday, Jimmy once again scored the heat race win before bagging another $2,500 triumph in the night’s 40-lapper.

The popular driver known as the “Iceman” was not far from sweeping the action-packed ‘USA Nationals,’ as he eventually landed on the podium of the $50,000 to win crown jewel event. Jimmy knocked down the ninth quickest lap in Group A during WOOLMS time trials on Friday night and later ran second in his loaded heat race. After rolling off from the inside of the fourth row in the 100-lap ‘USA Nationals,’ Jimmy thrilled his home state fans by blasting into the lead and holding the point from laps 17-37. While he stayed near the front, he was forced to settle for an impressive third place performance behind only race winner Jimmy Owens and runner-up Bobby Pierce. “It was a great week for our team and it was sure a lot of fun running well in front of a lot of fans, family, and friends,” exclaimed Mars this week. “I can’t thank my brother Chris (Mars) enough, as well as everyone associated with Mars Racing for all of their hard work. We have just kept digging with these racecars and things have started turning around for us the last month or so. It was awesome to win those shows in front of a packed crowd at Cedar Lake, but I would have loved to have capped it off with a $50k victory. It was a fun race up front with (Jimmy) Owens and (Bobby) Pierce – maybe we can get them this coming weekend at Florence!”

Mars Racing will travel south to the venerable Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky on August 8-9 for one of the biggest Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series events of the season. The 32nd Annual ‘North/South 100’ will take place this weekend at the undersized 1/2-mile speedplant and the crown jewel spectacular will once again boast a hefty $50,000 jackpot. For the first time, drivers will run two sets of heat races on Friday night with passing points determining the starting field for the first eight rows of Saturday’s 100-lapper.

The remainder of the grid will come out of three B-Mains on Saturday that will help set the stage for the prestigious ‘North/South 100.’ The high-definition television cameras of the Lucas Oil Production Studios will be on hand throughout the weekend to tape the event for broadcast on several TV Networks in 2014. Jimmy will be gunning for his second ‘North/South 100’ title, as he was victorious at the Cincinnati-area venue back in 2009.
