Lebanon-I-44-SpeedwayCar & Bike Show followed by a 50 lap Pro Late Model Special Saturday

Lebanon, Mo / August 13, 2014 – For Immediate Release

The battle for a NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Championship is tight in all 5 classes heading into this Saturday Night’s Wheels for Warriors Event. The O’Reilly Auto Parts Pro Late Models are head-lining the night with a 50 lap feature event along with a full show for the Budweiser Modifieds, Monster Energy Sportsman, Keyser Manufacturing Road Warriors and the exciting Coca-Cola Chargers.

Activities will start late in the morning on Saturday Aug. 16th as the Speedway will host the Wheels For Warriors Car, Truck, Bike and Trike Show on the Budweiser “Wildside” in turn 1 of the tier parking which will fill-up with some of the coolest cars, trucks, and bikes around the area. The car show starts at 11am with cut off for registration at 2pm. Judging for the show will begin at 3pm and the trophy presentation is at 5pm. Each entry for the car show will get to stay in the turn 1 area and view the exciting Monster Energy Chase For The Cup event. The Car Show will also feature a poker run, raffles, games and food. Profits from this will benefit the Wounded Warrior Fund along with the Sleeper Fire Dept.

Gates for the NASCAR Stock Car program will open at 5PM with the Pro Late Model Qualifying to begin at 7PM.

Mexico’s Kaleb Allison leads the O’Reilly Auto Parts NASCAR Pro Late Model point standings along with the NASCAR Whelen Missouri State Standings going into this weekend’s 50 lapper despite only 1 win, but 11 top 5 finishes out of 11 starts this season. Last week’s Monster Energy Night winner “The Stoutland Rocket” JC Newell has cut the point lead down to only 46 points with his 3rd win of the season while Brennon Willard of Sleeper will be carrying the Wounded Warrior Colors this weekend as he is looking for his 3rd feature win. The battle for 4th spot is very tight as current NASCAR Missouri State Rookie leader Kyle Donahue of Wildwood has a 29 point margin over Austin Johnson of Inola, Oklahoma while Terry Limberopolous of Cuba trails Johnson by only 1 point with Strafford’s Steve Holt only 23 behind Limberopolous.

Area Dirt B-Modified Champion Michael Stake of Lebanon is scheduled to be making his 2nd ever Asphalt Pro Late Model start Saturday night and 1st this season. Stake, an area fan favorite has been running a limited schedule mostly at Dallas County Speedway this season and knows how to wheel a car around “The High-Banks.” Add Kansas City Veteran Joe Ross in a new ride, I-44 regulars Jimmy Vanzandt and Peyton Lucas along with 18 year old Kevin Donahue, Chad Walter and others to the mix it will be wide open as the Pro Late Model division has featured 8 different winners in 11 races this season.

Stephen Counterman of Fair Grove has seen his lead slim down to 12 points over Tim Swearengin of Springfield. The former 3 time Pro Late Model champion is back behind the wheel after 10 seasons and has adapted very well to the Budweiser Modifieds. Richard Lewis quietly has snuck into 3rd place only 47 points out of the top spot while Ricky “The Iceman” Icenhower sets in 4th after capturing his 5th win of the season last weekend only 86 points behind and still has a shot at the season title. Lebanon’s Chris Johnson completes the top 5 for the “Ground Pounders.”

The Coca-Cola Chargers have the tightest point battles all down the line as defending champion Jimmy Poindexter of Willard maintains a slim 17 point lead over Jason Walls of St. James as last week’s winner John Huhn vaults to 3rd place just 52 points out of the lead. Early season point leader Jordan Nisbett of Lebanon moves to the 4th spot only 74 behind while Ben White of Rolla sets 5th 91 out of the lead with lady driver Lauren Buhr of Neosho is 100 markers back. Huhn became the 6th different feature winner out of 12 events for the Chargers last Saturday night.

Carl Harlow of Exeter and his 6 feature wins this season lead the Keyser Manufacturing Road Warrior standings with a 117 margin over Les Mallard of Fair Grove. Mallard has been consistent each night while chasing Harlow and his “Hot Rod Camaro.” Lebanon drivers and team mates Michael Juergensen and Tony Johnson are setting 3rd and 4th while both have been leading some laps in feature competition. Nick Cheery, Aaron Wilke, 3-time winner Geoff Ledford along with veterans Rick Sharp and Steve Shaw, former Champion Mike Scott and new comer Zac Morgan add a lot of talent to a very exciting class.

Monster Energy Sportsman point leader Paul Jepsen of Rolla saw his winning streak come to an end as Lebanon’s Justin Blake took his 1st ever Sportsman win last week in an exciting 20 lap feature. Point’s runner-up Big JC Newell, Jimmy Fohn, Jake Piel and others are catching-up to the former Charger Champion Jepsen and really making him work for the top spot.

Race gates open at 5pm with Pro Late Model Qualifying to begin at 7PM and racing action to immediately follow in all classes. Adult admission is only $10 in the Monster Energy Grandstand and the Budweiser Party Deck with kids 11-15 only $4 with discounts offered to Seniors and Military. Budweiser “Wildside” Tier Parking is only $15 for Adults with a special 6-pack special offered 6 Adults for $75 in the same vehicle. Discounts are also offered on the Wildside for the Biggest Tail-Gate Party in Lebanon.
