WHEATLAND, MO (August 14th, 2014) – Summer may be ending, but there’s time for one last party! Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri is throwing an End-Of-Summer Bash that you’ll never forget! Three full days of racing action and entertainment for the whole family! The Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series returns for its final appearance of 2014, August 29th-31st for the 4th Annual Diamond Drag Boat Nationals featuring the 250 mile-per-hour Top Fuel Hydros plus G2 Gemini Apparel presents the MLRA Dirt Late Model Summer Shootout on Saturday night, August 30th!
“If there is one event that is a must see event, it is the 4th Annual Diamond Drag Boat Nationals and G2 Gemini Apparel MLRA Summer Shootout.” stated Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Dan Robinson. “Where else can you go and watch the nation’s best drag boats and the region’s best open competition late models and modifieds at the SAME place on the SAME weekend for one LOW ticket price.”

The 3-day festival of speed, fun, and entertainment kicks off on Friday, August 29th with an open competitor Test & Tune from 9am-12:30 but for the first time ever ever, activities on Friday will also include one complete round of qualifying for all classes including all Sportsman and Pro classes highlighted by ever unpredictable Top Fuel Hydros from 1:00-3:30pm.

“This is really an important step for the event to add that round of qualifying on Friday.” stated Robinson “as it means that fans are almost guaranteed to see all the boats run all three days. In the past, the test & tune was optional and many of the faster boats chose to sit out and save their equipment until Saturday but not this year, all classes are scheduled to run all three days.”

Saturday’s action begins at 10am with a full day of Drag Boat Qualifying, including everyone’s favorite the Top Fuel Hydros, racing down the lake at speeds in excess of 250 MPH! The Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series will wrap up qualifying just in time for fans to make their way over to the dirt track for the G2 Gemini MLRA Summer Shootout. The Pitts Homes USRA Modifieds will also be in action as the drivers battle for a special $1,000 to win top prize courtesy of Behlin Building Systems and Bret Givens Construction.

The weekend concludes on Sunday, August 31st, with Final Elimination Rounds to crown the Champions of the 4th Annual Diamond Drag Boat Nationals. Gates open at 8am Sunday, with Eliminations slated for 10am.
