2014-flyer-STL-SHOOTOUT-5b(HARRISBURG, ILLINOIS) Both Riggs Motorsports drivers – Brian Shirley and Jason Riggs – rolled into the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on September 4-6 for the 44th edition of the ‘World 100.’ Things kicked off at the “Big E” with a pair of Twin 25 preliminary programs, each of which paid $5,000 to the winner. Brian ran second in his heat race and ninth in the 25-lap feature on Thursday, while he finished third in his heat race and twenty-fourth in the 25-lapper on Friday. Jason, on the other hand, missed out on both preliminary main events after placing fourth in his heat race and seventh in his B-Main on Thursday night and finishing seventh in his heat race and fifteenth in his B-Main on Friday evening.

The stakes were raised much higher on Saturday at the 1/2-mile, high-banked speedplant, as all eyes were fixated on the prestigious globe trophy and the hefty $47,000 payday. Brian drove his #81 Rocket racecar to a fourth place finish in his heat race and a sixth place effort in his B-Main, but both of those performances left him one spot shy of a coveted transfer position into the ‘World 100.’ The Chatham, Illinois ace did salvage his night by picking up the $1,000 top prize by winning his B-Scramble for non-qualifiers. Jason also unfortunately failed to transfer into the 100-lap headliner at Eldora on Saturday after running eleventh in his stacked heat race and thirteenth in his B-Main. Complete results from the action-packed weekend can be located online at www.eldoraspeedway.com.

Both Riggs Motorsports teams have a pair of high-profile races in the states of Illinois and Missouri circled on their racing calendar for the upcoming September 12-13 weekend. The ‘St. Louis Showdown’ features a pair of $10,000 top prizes on Friday at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois and on Saturday at Federated Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Missouri. A complete show for the UMP Late Models will be held at both St. Louis-area facilities this weekend.
