Wheatland, MO- (September 22nd, 2014)- The final Budweiser Weekly Racing Series event of 2014 was one fans will remember for years to come on a picture perfect September evening in Wheatland, Missouri. Second generation racer Payton Looney scored an improbable win in the ALPS Food Store ULMA Late Models while Trevor Hunt, J.C. Morton, and Tim Petty also picked up wins on Bill Roberts Chevrolet-Buick Season Championship Night Presented by KYOO this past Saturday, September 20th.

In addition to the feature action in RACEceiver Victory Lane, Champions were also crowned in all four divisions of the Lucas Oil Speedway Budweiser Weekly Racing Series as Jake Williams narrowly secured the track ALPS Food Store ULMA Late Model title by a mere 12 points over JD Hubert. Cross Timbers, Missouri veteran Jeff Cutshaw was officially crowned the champ in the Pitts Homes USRA Modifieds. Lebanon, Missouri’s Kris Jackson took home his third straight Tri-Lakes RV USRA B-Mod Championship. David Hendrix dominated all season to earn top honors in the Carson’s Corner Napa Auto Parts Factory Stocks.

The first main event to hit the Lucas Oil Speedway clay oval was the Carson’s Corner Napa Auto Parts Factory Stocks as several new faces found their way to the front. Several of the top running Lucas Oil Speedway regulars had converged upon the Batesville Speedway for the annual $10,000 to win Street Stock event including 2014 track champion David Hendrix. Nianga, Missouri’s Tim Petty made the most of the opportunity as came from his seventh starting spot to overtake Bella Vista, Arkansas’ Joshua Essary on the last lap in a photo finish to take the win. Shawn Whitman and Francisco Escamilla had a great side by side battle until the very end as Whitman narrowly squeaked by Escamilla for the third spot while Francisco settled for fourth. Chip Shaddox crossed the finish line in the fifth spot.

The Tri-Lakes RV B-Mods were up next as over forty cars were on hand. Kris Jackson appeared to be poised to take the win and the championship as he dominated the early parts of the race but as he led the field to the green flag after a mid-race caution flag, his clutch failed rendering him unable to take off piling up several of the top runners just behind him. Jackson was forced to retire to the pits. The benefactor was J.C. Morton as he escaped damage and charged to the win from his ninth starting spot. Logan Martin followed J.C. across the stripe to score the second spot. Stephen Muilenburg had another strong top-3 run with Derek Brown and Shawn Strong finishing in fourth and fifth respectively.

The Pitts Homes USRA Modifieds put on another outstanding show as Trevor Hunt reeled in race long leader Darron Fuqua and made the pass coming out of turn three with two laps to go in a picture perfect slide job. Once in front Hunt put some distance on Fuqua and raced to the win. Fuqua was able to hang on for second. Alton, Missouri Scott Crigler took the third spot at the finish. Nic Bidinger rallied from his tenth starting spot to finish in fourth. Jason Russell debuted a brand new GRT scoring a top-5 finish the first night out after starting in ninth.

The ALPS Food Store ULMA Late Model evemt is the one they will be remember for years to come. With not only the win on the line but also the ULMA Late Model Track Championship and the ULMA Series Championship at stake, the intensity was high. JD Hubert looked to have solved two pieces of the puzzle as he dominated the first half of the race and looked to have both the win and the track championship locked up as he was checked out on the top side of the racetrack but then calamity struck with 6 laps to go as the lap car of Todd McCoin spun directly in front of Hubert. With Hubert committed to the top side and Payton Looney hot on his heals, Hubert simply could not avoid McCoin and made heavy contact ending his night and his championship hopes.

Looney assumed command of the race to score an emotional while Jake Williams managed a seventh place finish which secured the 2014 track championship. Looney’s teammate Dwight Neihoff also beat the odds to score the 2014 Lucas Cattle Company ULMA Series Championship by just two points over Jon Binning. The Lucas Oil Speedway front stretch was a sea of orange and black as all three cars were owned or sponsored by Niehoff farms. Ethan Young was able to take second place at the finish while Niehoff was officially scored in the third spot. Jason Bodenhamer kept things interesting as he took home fourth while Larry Ferris charged all the way to fifth from his sixteenth starting position to also earn the Keyser Manufacturing Hard Charger Award. John Haslock Jr. was awarded the AR Bodies Product Certificate.
