American Modified SeriesMorgantown, KY- September 27, 2014- The Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series completed the month of September at Cedar Ridge Speedway in Morgantown, KY and Brian Shaw of Robinson, IL would take the $1,500 payday and the win in the event behind the wheel of his Silverthorne Chevy/Bay Safety/Ted Brown’s Quality Paint and Body/AFCO/Maxima Racing Oil/Crampton Painting and Drywall/FOX Shocks/All Star Performance/Quick Car/Frankland Racing Equipment sponsored #1s Bandit Race Car, which is powered by a Mullins Race Engine.

The victory was worth $1,500 for Shaw and would be his third career series victory and second of the season on the tour, sweeping both events at Cedar Ridge Speedway for the 2014 season.

Outside polesitter Victor Lee would take the lead at the start of the event and lead the opening two circuits before caution waved with two laps complete for Jeff Cotterman spinning off of turn four. The restart would see Lee, Brian Shaw, and Darin Obenchain go three-wide into turn one, with Shaw diving from the top to the bottom and edging Lee for the lead on lap 3. Johnathan Epley would draw the next caution with a turn four spin on lap 7. Action would resume with Shaw out front and Obenchain settling into second, while Lee and Randle Sweeney would have an entertaining battle for the third spot, trading the spot several times before Lee would draw the final caution of the event on lap 23 with a flat right front tire. Shaw would lead the remainder of the way to pick up the win, with Obenchain taking runner-up honors. Jeff Curl would earn the hard charger of the event award by finishing third after starting tenth, with Lee rallying back to finish fourth after suffering the flat tire, while Epley would recover from his lap 7 spin to complete the top five.

The remainder of the top ten at the completion of the Cedar Ridge Speedway A-Main would be Roy Bruce, Jr., Jeff Cotterman, Joey Cotterman, Brian Pedigo, and Randle Sweeney. The 30 lap, $1,500 to win event would be slowed by three caution periods.

In preliminary action, Victor Lee would be the Quick Car Racing Product top qualifier among a field of 14 entries at 15.523 seconds. Summit Racing Equipment heat one went to Randle Sweeney, while Victor Lee scored the win in Wiles Driveshafts heat two.

The next event for the Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series will be the 5th Annual Season Championship series finale on Saturday October 25 at Florence Speedway in Union, KY. The event will be 40 laps in distance and pay $5,000 to win and $250 to start and will crown the 2014 tour champion.
