Springfield Raceway Ready For Liquid Nitro Turkey Bowl VIII Saturday November 22 As Ken Schrader Competes

Springfield RacewaySpringfield, Mo.- The “Quick-Quarter” of the Action-Packed Springfield Raceway is preparing to close the 2014 Racing Season with the Running of The Liquid Nitro Turkey Bowl VIII Presented by Carey Menasco PTC Engineering And Consulting with some Great payouts on the High-Banked Clay Oval as the man who made “Dirt Works Race Cars” Mike Clark will be remembered.

Action this season will feature Late Models, A-Mods, and B-Mods on the racy, multi-grooved track, while for the 1st time, Pit Bikes will compete on the Moto-Cross track in the infield.

Late Models will compete for $2,000 to win and $300 to start in the 20 car field while running under MARS/NCRA/Corn Belt Clash Rules with the tire rules being The Hoosier WRS D55, Hoosier LM 40,LO6 and 1640. Steel Block Motors weight rule is 2200 LBS. while Aluminum Motors weight rule is 2300LBS. For Crate Late Models, they will run under NE Smith Crate Rules and Tire Rules( Crate 55 and Crate 21). Late Models will be running Spoilers this season and Raceceivers are required. For drivers not qualifying for the A Feature that compete in Last Chance races will receive $100. Entry Fee is $100 for Late Models. Jesse Stovall is the defending event winner.

Nascar’s ken Schrader will be making his first ever visit to the ‘Quick-Quarter” of the Springfield Raceway to tackle the best around for this popular event. Schrader knows the competition will be tough and is prepared to take the winners share of the purse back home.

Another great payout for a 1 day show for the A-Mods as they battle for $1200 to win and $300 to start in the 20 car field with extra money available in different ways. Performance Bodies will be giving a $500 Cash Bonus to the driver who leads lap 4 in Memory of Mike Clark. Clark and the Dirt Works Modified Cars set the standard in Modified Racing in the mid to late 90’s and early 2000’s. Mike helped many a race driver get to the race track in the day which helped paved the way to Modified Racing. Also this season, Carey Menasco engineering And Consulting with be giving a $500 bonus to the top 2 finishers each in the Turkey Bowl feature who competed in more than 5 IMCA Races in 2014. Again in 2014, No Spoilers allowed for the A-Mods, Except for the 604 legal Crate Engine as they will be allowed a 2 inch spoiler and must run a 6400RPM Chip with a 2400 Lbs. Weight limit. All others will run under USRA Rules including the 8,000 RPM Chip rule and weight rule. Tire rule will the American Racer KK704 or IMCA Hoosier Stamped G60. Siping and grooving are allowed and drivers may mix and match between the 2 tires. For drivers failing to make the A feature and who compete in the last chance events will receive $75 and Entry Fee is $75. Springfield’s Terry Phillips is the defending event winner as some of the best in the Midwest have captured this popular event. Raceceivers are required.

For the ever-growing B-Mods, $1,000 will await the winner of this season’s event while starting the feature will pay $160. No mixing of rules as this season. USRA and Wissota rules cars are not allowed to run a spoiler while IMCA Northern Sport Mod rules legal cars may run a spoiler, while IMCA Southern Sport Mods may run the Southern Sport Mod Spoiler and must run the Hoosier 500 Race Tire with the IMCA stamped on the sidewall. Grooving and siping will be allowed and tire rule is American Racer KK704 and the Hoosier IMCA Stamped G60. Raceceivers are required. For drivers not transferring to the feature and compete in the last chance events will receive $50 and car entry fee is $50. Shawn Strong of Republic is the defending event winner.

New to the Turkey Bowl will be the 10’ and 12” pit-bikes for those 16 and older as they get a chance to shine before the oval track crowd on the action-packed Moto-Cross track in the infield area.
Pit gates will open at 10AM with hot laps to begin around 1PM. Drivers draw cut-off is set for 2PM. Drivers arriving and drawing after that will receive only the heat race position and no passing points. Passing points will be awarded with the top 8 in passing points from each of the 3 classes to redraw. Transfers will determined by car count and announced at the drivers meeting after hot laps. Racing action is slated to begin at 3PM. Grandstand gates will open at 12: 30 and adult admission is only $20 with kids 6-12 only $5 and under 6 Free as the Ozarks area will end the season on another high note. Pit Passes will be $35.
