(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) The Mars Racing team has made the long southwest trip to Tucson, Arizona to enter the 9th Annual ‘Wild West Shootout’ at USA Raceway. The six-race miniseries in the Copper State, which will be held from January 10-18, will actually start with an open practice session later today. A total of four shows will pay $3,000 to the winner in Tucson, while the other two events will pay $5,000 and $10,000 to win respectively. For the first time, the ‘Wild West Shootout’ will carry a point fund with more than $5,000 distributed among the top five drivers, with $2,000 earmarked for the champion.
Jimmy Mars is always a factor when he ventures to Arizona and 2015 marks his sixth straight year of opening up his season at the 3/8-mile clay oval. The Menomonie, Wisconsin standout has amassed three victories in the last five years and a whopping twenty Top Five performances. Last season, Jimmy picked up a $5,000 National Dirt Racing League (NDRL) triumph and finished in the top five on five different occasions, with his worst effort still a solid eighth.
