Middleburg, Florida (02/09/15) – After two years of runner-up finishes in the event Mark Whitener and Big Frog Motorsports got over the hump on Sunday night at North Florida Speedway (Lake City, Florida) by claiming the $5,000 UMP Super Late Model win.

“We’ve been so close in this event, so to finally get the win feels awesome,” said an elated Whitener in victory lane. “This race is even more special because it’s my first open motor win. As always I want to thank my team, sponsors, family, and fans. Hopefully we can win another one before Speedweeks is over.”

Mark qualified third in the field in his #58 Dave’s Towing/B&B Produce/Barry Wright/Custom Race Engine Super Late Model and went on to win his heat race from the second spot over Tim McCreadie. His performance in preliminary action positioned Mark starting on the front row for the feature. Whitener took the lead at the start of the 40 lap feature and despite having no power steering he led wire-to-wire for the $5,000 victory over Frank Heckenast Jr., Morgan Bagley, Kyle Bronson and Kyle Beard.

The team now turns its attention to a busy, Super Late Model slate for the week. The team will compete in three events with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) at East Bay Raceway Park (Tampa, Florida) on February 9th-11th. Whitener will then pilot the #58 Big Frog Motorsports entry in a trio of events at Bubba Raceway Park (Ocala, Florida). Action includes a $5,000-to-win, UMP Late Model event on Friday, February 13th and a pair of $10,000-to-win World of Outlaws (WoO) Super Late Model event on February 14th and February 15th.
