Inside Line Promotions – FRESNO, Calif. (Feb. 24, 2015) – Dominic Scelzi is chomping at the bit to get the 2015 season underway.
Scelzi’s schedule includes approximately 45 sprint car races with his Roth Motorsports backed, family owned team and two dozen 360ci races driving for Dan Monhoff, including the season opener this Saturday at Marysville Raceway Park in Marysville, Calif., for the Sherm and Loree Toller Memorial.
“It seems like every year I say the same thing and I’ll say it again, I’ve never been more ready for the season to start,” he said. “I’m extremely excited and ready to compete for wins. I’m prepared as a driver to face anything that comes my way. After all the adversity we had to overcome last year, this is going to be the year when I can shine and show what I’m made of as a driver.”
The focus of Scelzi’s racing in his family sprint car will be the King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series championship. Scelzi, who earned the Rookie of the Year title in 2013, has finished in the top 10 in points with the series the past two years.
“If things can go our way and we can have luck, put together strong runs and have the finishes to each race we’ve got a shot at winning the championship,” he said. “That’s what I’m shooting for and what the goal is this year.”
Additionally, Scelzi will compete at all of the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series races in his home state of California as well as the FVP Outlaw Showdown at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas in Las Vegas on March 4-5.
Outside of the King of the West and World of Outlaws races, Scelzi will fill his schedule with select 360 races in California at Kings Speedway in Hanford, at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare and at Watsonville Speedway in Watsonville.
His schedule in the Monhoff sprint car will consist of races in Northern California.
“Dan and I got along really well last year when I ran for him,” he said. “When you go to a new team and you drive for people sometimes you don’t click or just don’t have luck. We really clicked and had a good run. He’s got great equipment. We’re going to have a really good year together.”
Scelzi is still seeking a full-time crew chief for the 2015 season. A CDL is preferred, but not required. Please send resumes to jscelzi@comcast.net or call Gary at 559-240-7897.
