Clarksville, TN- March 14, 2015- The Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series 2015 season opening event scheduled for Saturday March 14 has fell victim to the inclement weather of Mother Nature. A make-up date will be announced later, possibly next week.
Rains moved through the Clarksville, TN area on Friday afternoon and cancelled the scheduled practice for Friday evening. Heavy overnight rains that lingered into the early morning hours have left the grounds totally saturated and made it impossible to work in the racing surface for racing later on during the day on Saturday.
Also of note, the Bluegrass Nationals event scheduled for Friday March 20 and Saturday March 21 at Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway in Calvert City, KY have also fell victim to the late winter onslaught of Mother Nature, as recent heavy snow and rains have prevented track officials at KLMS from working on their race surface, so that event has also been postponed and a rescheduled date will be announced early next week.
So as it stands at this point, the 2015 season opening event for the Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series will be on Saturday March 28 at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN, with the open wheel warriors of the premier tour of UMP DIRTcar Modified sanctioned action competing at the ultra-fast 4/10 mile high-banked red clay oval, with the main event being 35 laps, paying $3,000 to win and $225 to start.
