Zomer Zooms to Victory Lane in CSP Season Opener! Kenny Wallace 2nd in IMCA Modified feature!

Canyon Speedway ParkLonnie Wheatley, PEORIA, Ariz. (March 14, 2015) – South Dakota’s Dusty Zomer dropped in on Saturday night’s Canyon Speedway Park season opener and made it pay off with victory honors in ASCS Southwest Sprint Car action atop the 1/3-mile clay oval near Phoenix.

While Zomer bested the Sprint Car ranks, other winners on the night included Bo Partain in IMCA Modifieds, Chris McCurdy, Jr., in Pure Stocks, Daniel Romero in Renegades and Brian Stehr in Dwarf Cars.

After a third place heat race finish, Zomer redrew the pole position for the feature and raced to victory lane aboard the Buffalo Wild Wings No. 82 ahead of reigning ASCS Southwest champion Rick Ziehl with 13th-starter Lorne Wofford, Bob Ream, Jr., and Ryan Linder rounding out the top five.

In 9th World Vapor IMCA Modified action, Bo Partain fended off invading NASCAR star Kenny Wallace for victory honors with George Fronsman, Shawn Zelenka and Mark Stewart in the top five.

Chris McCurdy, Jr., claimed Arizona Differential Pure Stock honors from third ahead of reigning champion Matt Martinez and Ty Weidner, while Joe Vlasity rallied from 17th to fourth.

Daniel Romero scored Scottsdale Muffler & Automotive Renegade honors ahead of Joe Flewelling and Mike Hartsock while Brian Stehr claimed the Dwarf Car win ahead of David Cook, Jr., and Eric Muse.

Action resumes at Canyon Speedway Park with the Hose Advantage Hank Arnold Memorial on Saturday night, March 28, featuring the non-wing USAC Southwest Sprint Cars along with Pure Stocks, Micro Sprints, AMA Mod Lites and Dwarf Cars.
