Farmington, MO (April 19, 2015) Brawl at the Bull Ring – you knew it was going to happen. Normally it happens later in the summer when the heat kicks up and the tempers get high but the third week of the season brought out the evil side. Weekly racing of 410 cubic inch Winged Sprint cars, Modifieds and Pure Streets race weekly in Farmington at the fastest 3/8 of a mile bullring in Missouri every Saturday night. Gates open at 4PM Hot laps at 6PM and Racing at 7PM.

The Sprint Car series saw “The Twister,” Tommy Worley Jr., bring home the win for the second time of the season. Perhaps it’s too soon to talk about points but that puts him only two points behind series leader, Joey Montgomery. Front Row Joe didn’t finish last week but he got the car put back together and raced his way to front row. Montgomery set the pace for the start of the Sprint feature. The car that races his way to the #1 starting position controls when the race starts, you can’t pass him until after the cone in turn four. Joey is a master at the stab and go technique which bunches his competitors up and gives him time to get away from the rest of the field, before the pile up in turn one. This move left Facebook and Twitter a blaze, “As long as Joey Montgomery does those stupid chopping restarts, I hope he never wins another feature,” said on race fan. While fellow driver, Jimmy “Tank” Bridgeman, replied, “I’ve never had issues with the starts… the people who race with him know it’s coming why not counter?” Montgomery road the cushion most of the race but had troubles holding the line and Worley was there to make a late race pass for the win.

In the A Mod Series once again we saw Billy “The Kid” Smith in the winner’s circle, apparently not only is Billy a great Crew Chief for Kenny Wallace’s dirt car, a great friend, and a great Dad, great Modified driver, but who knew he was the King of Lip Sync? I guess all that time in a hauler with The Herminator has rubbed off. At Intermission Billy Smith and Scottie Gretezmacher put on a fine show for the fans, even breaking out into dance in the grandstands, before the track gave away some awesome door prizes: 2 bikes, T-shirts, Steak N Shake gift card and the Grand Prize, NASCAR tickets to Sunday’s Bristol Race, donated by Danny Resinger.

In the B Mod Series saw Dusty Homann pull out the first win of the season. Series regular Shane Blair in the #1 car lead the feature for most of the race until he was turned every which way but the right way by a lap car he was passing when Dusty was able to get past both cars and finish for the win. The #1 car dropped out of the race with a flat right rear, lots of sheet metal damage and a hot temper, which spilled over into the pits where more discussion was had between the drivers involved.

The Pure Streets saw track champion #43x struggle for position all night, he just couldn’t get enough forward grip. The racing was tight at one time going four wide in turn two, which is where it all went bad for three drivers. The #34 of Ryan Williams smacked the outside wall sending him out with a flat right rear, #94 Jason Neel and #43x also got tangled up allowing #10 Dusty Homann to get by and take the checkered flag. On the back stretch Neel thought he would let Williams know just how happy he was with him by giving him a friendly smack to the front bumper. This made for a serious discussion in the pits after the race.

Hot August nights in April means it is going to be a wild summer! Make sure you come this Saturday night, April 25th, where it will be Soaring Eagle Distributing night at the races and ½ price Drat Beer will be on tap and $2000 to win for the Sprint Class. Will it be The Twister or Front Row Joe taking home the big money or will one of the other local drivers knock them off the perch and grab the big prize? Or will someone new stop by and try to take home a little extra cash?
