show-me-100-2015.jpg(HARRISBURG, ILLINOIS) Brian Shirley and his #3s team returned to Dirt Late Model competition on Friday night, May 15 at Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Brian posted the eleventh fastest lap in Group A during the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series qualifying session and later grabbed the fourth and final transfer spot through his heat race. After starting the $10,000 to win main event from the inside of the seventh row, Brian fought handling issues on his Rocket Chassis and wound up retiring early in the 50-lapper to finish twentieth in the final rundown.

Saturday’s LOLMDS visit to LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Illinois was then thwarted early in the day by inclement weather. Teammate Jason Riggs was scheduled to take his racing talents to Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway in Calvert City, Kentucky on May 15-16, but the two-day ‘Bluegrass Nationals’ was also a wash-out. Complete results from Friday’s show at Oshkosh can be viewed online by clicking on www.lucasdirt.com.

Brian and his Riggs Motorsports team will now turn their attention to a huge Memorial Day holiday weekend with high-profile races in the states of Missouri and Illinois. Up first will be the 23rd edition of the ‘Show-Me 100’ at the pristine Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri on May 21-23. The ‘Cowboy Classic,’ which will be sanctioned by the Lucas Oil MLRA Series, will kick things off later tonight, May 21 and a $5,045 top prize has been established. Preliminary action for the ‘Show-Me 100’ will then take place on Friday night, while the consolation races and the 100-lap Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series crown jewel event are slated for Saturday evening at Wheatland. A $30,000 winner’s check will be on the line in the ‘Show-Me 100,’ while each feature starter will receive at least $1,500.

On Sunday, May 24, the dirt-slinging action will quickly shift to Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois for the annual running of the ‘Budweiser 50.’ The UMP Super Late Models will run at the St. Louis-area oval for a $10,000 windfall. A complete show comprised of qualifying, heat races, consolation events, and a 50-lap main event will wrap up the hectic holiday weekend for the #3s team. Jason – on the other hand – is scheduled to stay at Tri-City Speedway all weekend long. On Friday, May 22, a regular weekly Super Late Model program will be held at Granite City and a $1,200 payday will be up for grabs. Jason will then join his teammate Brian Shirley on Sunday, May 24 for the $10,000 to win ‘Budweiser 50.’ You can keep up with the latest news and schedule information concerning both Riggs Motorsports pilots by logging onto www.riggsmotorsports.com.
