The 2015-season roars back to life this coming Sunday, June 7 at the Terre Haute Action Track in Terre Haute, IN. On the docket are the Summit Racing Equipment UMP Modified Nationals and the UMP Pro Late Models.
For the UMP Pro Late Models, it will be their first ever appearance at the track. The speedway did have a Pro Late Model race back in 2009 but it was not UMP sanctioned. That event was an Indiana Late Model Series race that provided a solid field of cars and an entertaining race. This Sunday’s event will provide drivers an extra venue to garner important UMP points in addition to the chance to run at the historic facility.
The Summit Racing Equipment UMP Modified Nationals ran at the 1/2-mile in 2014 with a strong field of 23 cars taking the feature green flag. NASCAR’s Justin Allgaier led convincingly before losing power. Kenny Wallace took over at that point and raced under the checkered flag first. Jacob Poel, Ken Schrader, A.J. Fike, and Tyler Nicely completed the top five in the 2014 race.
Former NASCAR star, Ken Schrader, will be making his return to the track this coming Sunday, looking to better his third place run from a year ago. His competition is expected to be stout, as the event is the second race on the schedule for the national tour.
Pit gates open this Sunday at 4:00, grandstands at 5:00, hotlaps will start at 6:00, and racing will begin at 7:00. Grandstand admission is $20, infield admission $10, and children 10 ten and under are free.
