DIRTcar Summer Nationals(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Jimmy Mars picked up his first win of the 2015 racing season in thrilling fashion on Friday night, June 12 in night one of the annual ‘Masters’ weekend at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin! Jimmy clicked off the fastest lap in his group during UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals qualifying and later finished second in heat race action. After starting the 40-lap main event from the outside of the third row, Jimmy crept forward throughout the distance and worked the bottom of the speedplant to perfection to grab the lead from Jason Feger on lap 38. The Menomonie, Wisconsin star beat Feger, Frank Heckenast, Jr., Billy Moyer, and Shannon Babb to the checkers to pocket the $5,000 windfall!

On Saturday evening, June 13, the UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals gang returned to CLS and a $10,000 top prize was on the line in the ‘Masters’ finale. Jimmy timed in second fastest in his group during qualifying and once again ran second in his loaded heat race. He then rolled off sixth on the grid in the 50-lapper, but an early tangle with Adam Hensel caused him to retire with damage to his MB Customs mount and relegated him to a disappointing twenty-first place performance. Complete results from the two-day ‘Masters’ extravaganza can be viewed online at www.thehelltour.com.

“Friday night’s show at Cedar Lake was a great one, that is for sure,” quipped Mars. “Jason (Feger) and Frankie (Heckenast, Jr.) were both good too, I just got lucky and everything fell my way. I kept digging on that bottom and finally the track came around to us a little bit and everything worked out great. Then on Saturday, I think we had a fast car for the Masters finale too, but didn’t get a chance to show it with that wreck. But, A.J. (Diemel) ran second for us, so it was a great weekend for Mars Racing and MB Customs!”

The Mars Racing team will now turn their focus to two more UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals shows this upcoming June 19-20 weekend in the Land of Lincoln. Up first will be a visit to Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois for a $10,000 to win throwdown on Friday night, while a similar program will be held on Saturday evening at Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois.
