Lucas Cattle Company ULMA drivers had but one shot at valuable championship points last weekend as only Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Missouri was able to complete their race program. Unfortunately, rained spoiled the fun in Moberly as Randolph County Raceway fell to soggy conditions.

Leading Hoosier Tire Midwest Rookie of the Year candidate Dustin Hodges broke through to the winner’s column at Callaway Raceway Friday night for his first-ever ULMA main-event win. Hodges, a virtual lock-in for 2015 Rookie of the Year took just 14 tries to roll into victory lane. Hodges also sits solidly inside the top 5 and asserts himself as a realistic title contender if he continues his winning ways.

Todd McCoin’s model year of consistency continued last weekend as he came away with the second spot behind Hodges, McCoin also appears to be having a championship caliber season. Not to be outdone, Jefferson City’s Chris Cox finished third at Callaway and maintains his third spot in the overall standings.

Payton Looney looked strong early on at Callaway but eventually came away with a fourth-place run. Looking at Looney’s points and total starts reveals that upon hitting the 15 points-earning nights that he may vault into the top spot in the overall standings. Current points leader Jon Melloway came away with a fifth-place run at Callaway Raceway.

Multiple-time B-mod winner Ryan Middaugh debuted a new Late Model and drove to a sixth-place finish one rung ahead of Vance Wilson in seventh. Rounding out the top ten at Callaway Raceway were Ashlee Lancaster, John Ketterer and Charles Russell. Wes Briggs and David Miller were also on hand among the 12-car field.

Racing resumes again this Friday at Callaway Raceway as the season nears its end at the speedway, which has just three races on its schedule in which ULMA drivers can earn championship points. Visit the track online at  www.callawayraceways.com. The raceway is located at 7419 County Road 405 in Fulton, Missouri. Call 573-592-7795 or 573-642-6580 for race day information.

After a week off for a special event, Lcuas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri comes back to life with oval dirt-track action on Saturday, August 1st. According to the track’s latest press release, ULMA Late Models will be the evening’s featured class of the night competing in a special 25-Lap, $1,000-to-win featured event. After another devastating rain out last week, ULMA late models have the weekend off at Randolph County Raceway, but will return on Saturday, August 8th for championship racing. RCR is located at 4081 US-24 in Moberly, Missouri. The Track Phone number is 660-833-1727. Visit www.randolphcountyraceway.com for additional information.

ULMA officials are currently in negotiations with Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas for a possible late-addition to the current 2015 points-earning season. The proposed event would likely occur in mid to late September if ULMA Officials can confirm driver participation. Drivers that would like to compete at Lakeside Speedway need to contact ULMA via message through their Facebook page, or by using the information that was sent to them via email, or simply by emailing unitedlatemodelassociation@hotmail.com.

With the season quickly winding down, the championship scenarios are starting to come to light within the standings. Jon Melloway continues to lead Todd McCoin, Chris Cox, Dustin Hodges, and Payton Looney, who all finished inside the top five in the most recent ULMA points-earning event.
