(Warrensburg, MO) Saturday evening was another fantastic weather night for local race fans and drivers to enjoy an evening of racing at Central Missouri Speedway on Comfort Inn Warrensburg Station Race night. After a rainy start to the race season earlier this year, the last two months have been excellent for race fans to witness some of the close racing CMS drivers have produced over the last few weeks.

On Saturday evening, Jeremiah Wilson from Concordia returned to victory lane for his fifth Pure Stock feature win of the year. Veteran driver Eddie Bray, Jr., from Archie drove his machine into the B-mod winner’s circle for the first time this year. Jay Prevete claimed his third Street Stock feature win of the year while Shad Badder capped a dreamlike weekend with a $1,000 victory in the USRA Modifieds.

Pure Stocks started off the weekly heat racing action to place drivers into their individual feature starting positions when Byron Glotzbach claiming the first heat race with Jimmy Smith and Roger Detherage following. In heat two, Robert Gard claimed his first-ever heat win with Darrin Christy and Don Johnson trailing.

The Pure Stocks drivers moved into their starting spots for their 10- lap feature as Glotzbach quickly shot out into the early lead out of turn two. Christy also moved up around Gard on the opening lap to pressure Glotzbach for the top spot. On lap four, Gard had a hard hit into the front side wall after tangling with several cars, which resulted in a flat tire. He was unable to continue and departed the track.

After the restart, Jeremiah Wilson charged to the front of the field moving by Christy on the low side. Wilson kept Glotzbach and Christy behind him and maintained the top spot for his fifth win this year. Christy challenged early in the race then settled for second while Glotzbach, a newcomer from Topeka, ran a strong race into third. Leroy Morrison and Jimmy Smith completed the top-five.

Another good quality field of 18 B-Mod drivers registered for weekly competition last evening and competed in three heat races to set their starting spots for their feature event. Jacob Ebert easily grabbed heat one over Cody Frazon and Cody Brill. Heat two had Eddie Bray, Jr., taking the win for his first heat win this year over newcomer Jace Gay and Jason Reeves. The final heat race saw Troy Carlyle advance to the checkers in front of Craig Brooks and Olen Stevens

The B-Mod drivers rolled onto the track for their 15-lap event to see if someone could conquer the points leader, Jacob Ebert. Bray battled with Troy Carlyle and eventually grabbed the early lead with Frazon and Ebert close behind A few early race cautions slowed Bray down some but he was able to fend off Carlyle then Frazon and Ebert as they all challenged for the top spot.

In the race’s late stages, it became a race of who would best maneuver their way through lapped traffic to the finish line. Bray occupied the middle to low side most of the race and kept the lead until it became exciting during the last few laps when both Frazon and Ebert threatened to overtake him.

In the end, Bray edged out Ebert and Frazon with a photo finish for the top three. Bray’s hard work was rewarded with his first CMS feature win this year, Ebert and Frazon followed with Cody Brill and Carlyle rounding out the top-five.
Street Stock drivers had another chance to figure out a path to victory lane with eight drivers in the pits competing in two heat races. Jay Prevete easily drove to victory in heat one over Troy Turley and Brian Inlow. Gary Akers pulled away and claimed the second heat race ahead of Ron Livengood and Larry Norris.

Although the car count was down this week, the Street Stock competition was entertaining for race, particularly in the main event. Early race leader, Prevete was pursued by Akers and Turkey on the initial laps. Brett Wood experienced a mechanical issue in his heat race and also had to pull off during the feature on lap three, tightening up the championship points race.

Meanwhile, Prevete started to pull away from the field as Turley moved past Akers into the second spot. Larry Norris spun in turn two to bring out a lap-seven caution, which tightened the field back up. On the restart, a scramble for the top spot ensued when Turley pressured Prevete as they drove side by side with some contact out of turn four.

Prevete hung tough and picked up his second feature win in a row with Turley settling for second. Brian Inlow battled past Akers after the restart and worked up his way up to third while Larry Norris matched his best finish this year in fourth with Ron Livengood, fifth and Josh Guy, sixth.

In USRA Modified action, 21 drivers competed in three preliminary heat races to setup the starting grid for their $1,000 to-win weekly payout purse. Jake Brewer drove to the win in heat one with Grant Junghans and Jared Rogers in tow. Traveling USMTS driver, Cory Crapser was on top and won in heat two ahead of Gunnar Martin and Matt Dotson. The third and final heat of the night went to Shad Badder followed by Jason Bodenhamer and Darron Fuqua.

All 21 USRA Modified drivers entered the track to compete in the 25-lap main feature. Two USMTS drivers, Corey Crapser from Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin and Grant Junghans from Manhattan, Kansas, joined a solid field of Missouri and Kansas drivers as Badder and Crapser led the front of the field early in the race.

Badder led the first few laps then Crapser was able to get by him on the low side to grab the top spot. However, Badder fought back again a lap later and grabbed the lead again. Junghans also moved into the mix with Matt Dotson eventually making his move past Junghans into the top three. Gunnar Martin hung tough in the top five for most of the race.

Badder was tested on several occasions but with each attempt to pass him he turned back the challenges and brought home his first CMS feature win this season. Crapser stuck a nose in for the lead several times throughout the event but ended up with a solid second. Dotson hung onto third with Junghans , Martin and Tim Karrick moving up from eighth starting spot into the top six.

Next weekend includes weekly racing for USRA Modifieds, Street Stocks and B-Mods, and Pure Stocks on KRLI 103.9 and KAOL 101.3 Race Night on Saturday.
