Lebanon, Mo. – 2013 NASCAR Missouri State and Lebanon I-44 Speedway O’Reilly Auto Parts Pro Late Model Champion Cole Williams took advantage of a lap 14 caution to close the gap on leader Kyle Donahue and made a high-side turn four pass on the 19th circuit to capture his 3rd NASCAR Whelen All American Series Pro Late Model feature of the season at The “High-Banks” of The Lebanon I-44 Speedway in front of another great crowd Saturday night in an action packed feature. “That’s two weeks in a row we have had great racing on the track and great crowds in the stands, with the way the car counts are building late in the season these last three races of 2015 should be awesome” said Lebanon I-44 Speedway General Manager Kevin Greven.

Kyle Donahue, the 2014 NASCAR Missouri State Rookie of the Year quickly grabs the opening lead from the outside pole starting spot as Jimmy Vanzandt quickly followed. As Donahue pulled away to let the others fight it out early, the tightly bunched packed created some outstanding door to door action. Within a few laps Vanzandt closed ground and stayed on the leader’s rear bumper. Veteran Steve Holt was bringing a pack towards the front including pole sitter Payton Lucas, Paul Jepsen, defending champion Kaleb Allison and Cole Williams. With Donahue setting a fast pace, Allison moved around Vanzandt on lap 12 bringing Williams with him. Following the restart on lap 14, Williams moved around Allison and set his sights on the leader Donahue. The caution waved on lap 18 allowing Williams to close-up on Donahue’s back bumper. Following the restart, the duo went door to door with Williams taking the lead only to find Donahue pull back around as Allison was looking for some running room. Williams made the final pass for the lead on lap 21 and slowly began to pull away leaving Donahue and Allison to battle for 2nd place as a pack including current point leader JC Newell, Paul Jepsen, Brennon Willard and Jimmy Vanzandt were swapping spots back and forth. On the 26th circuit, Allison made a run on Donahue to secure the runner-up spot but had nothing for Williams who had pulled away for the win as Allison, Donahue, Newell and Jepsen completed the top 5. 14 of the 17 starters were on the lead lap as the crowd had battles all throughout the pack they were cheering for. Donahue, Jepsen and Allison captured the heat race wins.

Budweiser Modified action saw Ricky Icenhower make a 3 wide pass at the start of the feature in turn 3 and then hold back 2014 Missouri State and Lebanon I-44 Speedway Track Champion Stephen Counterman to secure his 7th feature win of the season. With Icenhower wasting no time in taking the lead, Richard Lewis has quietly settled into 2nd spot with point leader Tim Swearengin driving the Brian Lewis machine after having some motor issues after practice in 3rd place. Counterman and Roper Classic winner David Bates were in 4th and 5th. Caution waved on lap 8 slowing the pace. On the restart, Richard Lewis fell back as Counterman and Bates moved around and were keeping pace with Icenhower while Roderick Icenhower moved from his 14th starting spot to 5th. Ricky Icenhower was slowly putting some distance on Counterman until lap 15 when Counterman began to reel-in the leader until the final caution waved on lap 20 setting-up a 5 lap shootout. On the restart, Icenhower pulled away by 2 car lengths, but Counterman quickly closed-up the ground as Bates was trying to find some room with Roderick Icenhower putting on some pressure as well. Back up front, Counterman seemed to have a run going on the leader, but Ricky was able to fend off the defending champion and take the win with Counterman, Bates, Roderick Icenhower and Swearengin following as 10 of the 15 scheduled starters finished on the lead lap. Toby Harden, Bates, and Icenhower grabbed heat race wins.

For Sportsman driver “Little” JC Newell a lap 22 pass in the 30 lap feature brought him win number 7 of the season for the 2012 Lebanon I-44 Speedway Track Champion but he had to work all night long for the victory. Current point leader “Big” JC Newell quickly jumped to the opening lead making a 3 wide pass between Jimmy Fohn and Aaron Douglas. Newell was setting a very quick pace early as Douglas had settled in behind the leader while Newell and veteran Ken Dickinson followed closely behind. Douglas would fall back from contention on lap 6 as the car went up the track in turn 1 placing Newell to 2nd with Dickinson following. For the next 10 laps, Grandson Newell went to school from veterans in front and behind and tried many different times to get the top spot away from his Grandfather and at the same time hold off Dickinson. This very tight race between the trio lasted until lap 22 when “The Rocket” got a high-side run off turn 2 to take the lead. Dickinson was able to grab 2nd spot from Big JC on lap 25, but ran out of time to mount a charge on the leader. Following Newell to the line was Dickinson, Newell, Douglas and Fohn. Little Newell also captured the heat race win.

Current Hoosier Racing Tire Street Stock point leader Jordan Nisbett took the lead from Shawn Schmidt on lap 7 and drove to his 6th feature win of the season and his 2nd in a row. Another action packed event for the Streets saw Schmidt driving “The Station-Wagon” take the lead over young lady driver Lauren Buhr on the start with Tony Johnson following close behind. Nisbett who started 7th tonight was using the high-side well and charged up to the 3rd spot by lap three. While moving through up the pack, Nisbett was bringing 9th starting Michael Juergensen with him through the field. After a tight side by side battle, Nisbett grabbed the top pot from Schmidt on lap 7. Caution waved twice on lap 8 as first Buhr and Juergensen spun while racing for position and then Zack Morgan and Riley Sharp got together. On the restart, Les Mallard started a surge forward after having many mechanical issues the last couple of weeks. Another incident with Sharp and Morgan saw Sharp go off on the end of the wrecker as Morgan was parked by race officials ending both of their nights. As the green flew, Nisbett shot ahead as Schmidt and Mallard went door to door in the battle for 2nd place. Mallard took the spot and began to close-in on Nisbett. While Nisbett was seeing the lead get a bit smaller, lap 11 saw Mallard loose several car lengths as he got sideways off turn 2 but gathered it back up. Nisbett would get the win as Mallard rallied to finish 2nd followed by early leader Schmidt, Juergensen and Tony Johnson at the finish. Heat race wins went to Schmidt and Morgan.

For Coca-Cola Charger point contender Ben White, it has been several races since he was in the winner’s circle, but Saturday night a lap 8 pass while holding off Jimmy Poindexter at the finished netted White his 6th feature win of the season and back into the top of the point standings. 2014 NASCAR Missouri State and Lebanon I-44 Speedway Charger Champion Jason Walls quickly set the rabbit pace from the front row in taking the lead as Japheth Nisbett followed while White and Poindexter were slicing through the pack. As the 12 lap feature went caution free, both White and Poindexter were closing in on the leader Walls using both high and low lines. White made the winning pass in turn 1 on Walls as Poindexter followed. The “Dynamic Duo” of the Chargers went to battle the final 2 laps before White held off Poindexter for the win as Poindexter, early leader Walls, Nisbett and Jesse Poindexter completed the top 5.
Action continues Saturday Night Sept. 5th with all 5 NASCAR classes racing. The first heat race will start at 6PM while the gates will open at 4PM as Caddy Shack Golf Carts of Camdenton present NASCAR Whelen Short Track action at The “High-Banks” of Missouri’s only active Asphalt Oval and NASCAR sanctioned facility.
