April 4, 2016, St. Louis Region – The NHRA-sanctioned Dragplex at Gateway Motorsports Park is busy this weekend with an action-packed doubleheader: the 2016 JEGS Super Quick Series and the ET Bracket Racing Series events on Saturday and Sunday.
The JEGS Super Quick Series, which consists of seven races in NHRA’s Division 3 and is the longest-running eighth-mile touring series in the United States, will kick off its 28th season this weekend at GMP. The winner will receive $2,000 and a coveted NHRA “Wally” trophy. The trophy, named for NHRA founder Wally Parks, is to NHRA drag racing as the Oscar statuette is to the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. In addition to other payouts, the runner-up will earn $1,000 and the fastest qualifier will receive a $200 JEGS gift certificate. JEGS Super Quick Series qualifying will take place on Saturday with eliminations on Sunday. JEGS Super Quick Series racers also may enter the GMP ET Bracket Racing Series Super Pro class.
GMP’s Dragplex will host a doubleheader this weekend for its ET Bracket Racing Series competitors — race Nos. 3 and 4 — and the Super Pro and Pro classes will see increased payouts each day ($1,500-to-win for Super Pro, $1,000 for Pro). Pit gates will open at 6 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
