Lucas Cattle Company ULMA drivers competed in a pair of events last weekend with two different, but very familiar faces claiming the victories. Last season’s Rookie of the Year, Dustin Hodges of Centralia, Missouri posted his first victory of the year on Friday at Callaway Raceway while Aaron Marrant continued to terrorize the Lucas Oil Speedway field by driving to his fourth-consecutive win at the track.

Callaway Raceway kicked things off on Friday with nine cars present. From the onset of the night, Hodges left little doubt his car was on a rail and he was a force to reckon with. Not even 2008 Champion Jason Bodenhamer could reel in Hodges as he maintained his lead on the field through each phase of the race.

Hodges’ win, was his third-career Lucas Cattle Company victory and first this season. Bodenhamer hounded the second-year late model driver all-race long but never posed a serious threat to Hodges and had to settle for the runner-up position. ULMA point’s leader, Jon Melloway rounded out the top three at the conclusion of the event.

Chris Cox kicked off his weekend strong with a run to the fourth position while Todd McCoin completed the top five. Phil Edmondson, Ryan Petersheim, Cody Holtkamp, and Ashlee Lancaster completed the field. Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Missouri is set for another week of action on Friday night May 27th. Gates open at 5 with hot laps at 7 and racing at 7:30. The track is located at 7419 County Road 405, Fulton, MO. For additional information call (573) 592-7795 or (573) 642-6580 or visit www.callawayraceways.com.

At Lucas Oil Speedway on Saturday night, Cody Holtkamp, Jon Melloway, and Ethan Young claimed heat race victories. Justin Russell and Jon Melloway started the main event on the front row, but it wasn’t meant to be for either driver as they slipped in the final rundown as they were not able to complete the main event.

According to the last week’s Lucas Oil Speedway press release, “Aaron Marrant took the lead shortly after the start of the event.” Marrant, of Richmond, Missouri easily outpaced the rest of the field and claimed his fifth overall ULMA win and fourth in a row at Lucas Oil Speedway. Jon Binning of Warrensburg, Missouri, the 2014 Champion recorded his best finish of the year with a runner-up finish while Larry Ferris of Nevada, Missouri rounded out the top three.

Tommy Cordray advanced from ninth to fourth while Chris Cox also advanced five spots through the field to come away with a solid top-five finish. Cody Holtkamp came away with a sixth-place run, just in front of a surging Bobby Penney who advanced from 19th on the grid to come away with a seventh-place finish. Lane Ehlert, David Melloway, and Aaron Poe rounded out the field.
