(Warrensburg, MO) Father’s Day weekend and Saturday racing were great ingredients for an evening of family fun with Dad on KIX 105.7 FM and Joslin’s Jewelry night at Central Missouri Speedway (CMS). A total of 82 cars checked in for the night to compete for the coveted checkered flag celebrations in victory lane.

The feature events were filled with racing action all over the high-banked clay oval. Jeremy Lile of Higginsville grabbed his first-ever Pure Stock feature to become a first-time 2016 winner, then, an excited Cody Frazon of LaMonte celebrated his first B-mod feature win of the season. In the ULMA Late Model feature Aaron Marrant claimed his second CMS Late Model win of the year as he kept his weekend win streak alive. Clayton Campbell of Otterville fought hard for his second Street Stock feature of the season and to close out the night and one of the most memorable finishes of the year as he doubled-up on victory lane appearances by edging Dalton Kirk in the USRA Modified main.

It took two heat races for the 12 Pure Stock drivers to determine the main event lineup. Heat one went to Jeremy Lile ahead of Jeremiah Wilson and Darrin Christy while heat two went to Don Johnson ahead of Jimmy Smith and Jason Ballard.

Lile and Johnson began the Pure Stock main event with Wilson and Christy close behind. Lile shot out to an early lead with Wilson pressuring him on the low side. On lap two, Wilson’s car had a steering problem and shot up the track into Christy who then flew over turn two but thankfully landed on all four wheels. Fortunately, both Wilson and Christy were okay but were finished for the night. Lile then shot back out on the restart and strengthened his lead as Detherage attempted to challenge him. In the end, Lile hung on to claim his first win of the season. Current points leader Detherage fought back to finish second followed by Jimmy Smith, Don Johnson and Dallas Heuser with his best finish this season in fifth.

The 20 B-modified drivers on hand competed in three heats to determine the main event lineup. Jacob Ebert found a groove early for a victory in heat one over Troy Carlyle and Colten Stevens. Cody Frazon fought off a hard-charging Johnny McGinnis and Ernie Walker to claim heat two. Tim Powell advanced to claim heat three over Cody Brill and Caleb Bray.

Brill and Frazon led the B-mod field to the green with Brill the early leader but Frazon quickly assumed control in front of Brill and Ebert. After several caution periods for single-car incidents, Brill’s car went around with several drivers ending up caught in the incident. For the restart, Brill, Carlyle, and Colton Stevens went to the back of the field. Up front, Ebert continued to pressure Frazon for the remainder of the race but Frazon prevailed in the end. A jubilant crew of friends celebrated with Frazon for his first CMS feature win. Ebert looked strong in second while Johnny McGinnis had his best CMS finish in third, Bobby Russell moved up to fourth while Brill rebounded to finish fifth.

ULMA Late Models made their third appearance of the year with a heat race for the night. Aaron Marrant rocketed to the front in the heat to claim the win over Aaron Poe and Bobby Penny.

Marrant and Penny started the 15-lap ULMA event on the front row with Poe and Jon Binning just behind. Marrant quickly established a solid lead and was never challenged for his second ULMA win in two nights after taking the win at Lakeside Speedway the night before. Penny had a nice run into second while Poe looked solid in third. Former CMS Late Model Champion Jon Binning was fourth followed by Bob King, Chris Cox, Jimmy Jobe, and Bob Cummings.

Street Stock drivers raced two heat races to determine their feature event starting grid. Jay Prevete claimed the opening Street Stock heat race over Allen Perryman and Brian Eckhoff, who returned after flipping his car two weeks ago. Clayton Campbell worked his way to the front in heat two ahead of Brett Wood and Marc Carter.

Prevete lunged into turn one with Perryman, Wood and Campbell hot on his tail to start the main event. Prevete held the lead until he got loose out of turn two and Wood jumped to the advantage to grab the lead. Wood held on until Campbell dug under him out of turn two but a caution flew negating the pass. On the restart, Campbell once again passed Wood on the low side of two on lap thirteen. Campbell hung on and claimed his second feature of the year with Wood close in second, former CMS champion Marc Carter moved up into third with Prevete fourth and Perryman fifth.

USRA Modifieds came out in full force with 30 drivers on hand for four outstanding heat races to begin their portion of the program. Heat one went to Aaron Marrant over Eddie Bray, Jr., and Brian Johnson. Shad Badder fought off Gunner Martin and Danny Scrogham in heat two with Dalton Kirk besting Colson Kirk and Nathan Vaughn in heat three. The final heat of the night went to Ryan Middaugh ahead of Tim Karrick and Terry Schultz. With the many cars on hand, a B-main event was held to determine the final cars on the starting grid as Jason Pursley, Beau Davis, Lewis Jackson, David Wood, Justin Plumb, and Dean Bachner filled the grid.

Dalton Kirk and Shad Badder earned the front row starting positions for the USRA Modified main event. Kirk jumped out to the early lead and it seemed to be his race to win. Badder kept hounding him until Marrant snuck by Badder on the back stretch to capture the second spot. As he often does all by himself, Terry Schultz used the high to his advantage all throughout the race to enter into the mix.

Kirk looked solid all night in the lead until the final lap when Marrant found a small lane on the low side and took the lead out of turn four for the double checkers finish. Marrant topped off the second night of double feature wins with his second win of the evening as Kirk settled for a tight second place finish. Marrant also won both the Late Model and Modified win the night before at Lakeside Speedway to cap off an incredible Father’s Day weekend. Schultz was unable to make the high side work late in the race and finished third. Gunner Martin was fourth while Tim Karrick moved up from ninth to fifth to complete the top five.
